It’s hilarious, if you also ignore how terrifying it is..
I would like to take this opportunity to point something out…this is posted by the official White House account. Funny as it is, the intention behind it is insidious.
It is *not* acceptable for an administration to work this hard to be divisive.
Let’s not kid ourselves here, this is another baby step to gradually reinforce the idea to his supporters that our fellow citizens who disagree politically are not just wrong, they’re enemies. It’s an attempt to get his base to associate his opposition with an existential threat, and paint himself as the sole hero capable of saving us.
Disguising it as a “joke” is just subtly normalizing animosity and fear between citizens, and gaslighting you while he does it. I’ve noticed this for a while. The language he uses about his political opposition has been slowly escalating for quite some time.
It becomes increasingly threatening and dehumanizing.
First he just blamed every issue on democrats and the media.
Then it was “Fake news.”
“The radical left.”
“Lunatics.”
“The enemy within.”
“Vermin,” that are “poisoning the blood of our country” and need to be “rooted out.”
“Parasites” and “the Parasite Class.”
I fully understand that politics can be divisive, and the left is certainly not without sin. Liberals can be hateful too.
This is something else entirely.
Extremism ain’t new, but it’s certainly gaining traction in certain groups.
