It's chest-thumpin' day in MAGA nation!

College football begins in earnest today, which means non-stop shitposting from Vettebigot, Derpy and other alpha-male wannabees who never played the game will peacock and preen and post about how "manly" they are whilst the rest of red-blooded American males watch football.

Marquee game is Texas vs. Ohio State. Betting line opened at Ohio State favored by 2 points (large professional betters making huge bets on Ohio State), but a YUGGE last minute surge of under-$100 bets from the uneducated masses who have bought into the Arch Manning-is-God hype have flipped the script and Texas is now favored by one point.

Make no mistake, Manning is undoubtedly a generational talent. Let's see what he does in his first day in the national spotlight.

In a perfect world, Texas wins despite Manning throwing for two touchdowns and four interceptions.

"Manning short-armed throws, threw into coverage and failed to get any traction at all on offense in the first 30 minutes at The Shoe.

The highly touted QB went into the half just 5-for-10 for 26 yards, with the Longhorns failing to make it past the Ohio State 40-yard-line as the Buckeyes claimed a 7-0 lead."

Rough start for Manning.
When Mannings have a rough start, their stories usually conclude in Canton.

#3 Ohio State legitimately upset #1 Texas 14-7 at home.

Manning clicked it into high gear the final 4 and a half minutes, but it just wasn't enough.
Make no mistake, Manning is GOOD.

He sailed two passes a bit high on their final drive resulting in incomplete passes, and Ohio State ran out the clock when Texas turned over on downs.

And Manning's single touchdown pass that he threw (where the receiver bobbled it from one hand to the other) was likely the toughest replay call to be made in college football this year.

A bit cringey how often the cameras were on Manning while Ohio State was on offense.

side note: The State Farm "college trainer vs. Megan Trainor" commercial was an instant classic.

"It's all about the brace, bout the brace..." while trying to put a knee brace on Patrick Mahomes elbow... "what was your name again?"

Thoughts on Arch:

1. He didn’t start last year for a reason. He wasn’t ready. Sark opted to start a good but not great QB with experience. It was the right decision. Quinn Ewers was fine for Texas, but wasn’t selected until the 7th round in the NFL draft.

2. Starting your first big time college game in Columbus in what was the most hyped opening game I think I’ve ever seen is not a walk in the park.

3. Starting against a defense coached by Matt Patricia is any QBs nightmare. Most college DCs focus on stopping the run. As an elite DC in the NFL, Patricia coached against the likes of Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, and countless other greats. It’s not surprising Arch struggled to find his rhythm.

4. He’ll get better. Much better. He’s in a great program. Let’s see how he looks in October.

👆 I agree with all of this 💯

He will face an interesting mid-season test against the Georgia Bulldogs in Athens.

Shadeur may not have the talent that his daddy had, but he sure as hell is tough (watch through to the end for the close up replay…ouch):

😳
That was one helluva hit.
I'm going to be generous and say the tackler was aiming for Sanders' calves, but had he missed by just a few inches would have likely resulted in a season-ending knee injury.

Good bang-bang no-call by the officials about it not being "roughing the passer". Scrambling QBs outside the pocket are fair game.

I’ve seen much less called a penalty, but I’m good with it being a no call as Sanders was a threat to run.

I was watching that game live, and Sanders came right back into the game.

😳

Dude had / has my respect.

👍

The two most strident, womyn-with-a-y feminists I know both love football.
As for me? When people over here (Australia) learn my parents live in Philadelphia, they often ask me what I think of the Eagles. My stock response: "They never should've fired Don Felder."
Different strokes for different folks.
