Watch the neighborhood bike parade, take your motorcycle for a spin, play softball, listen to music, sing along if you feel like it, grill stuff, split a watermelon open, make ice cream with the youngsters, drink lemonade, ice tea, or ice cold beer, and calm your dogs when the fireworks go off.

i was halfway through grinding the cukes/peppers/onions for making cuke relish tomorrow when H's son and the grandkids turned up. So it was go pick corn, shuck corn, prep corn that got grilled by H's son along with seasoned chicken bits to have with potato salad when they're done playing pool up at the shop. too hot for me up there...thermo's reading 100 with the sun on it. Add to the mix his mum decided today was a good day to have her bed stripped, mattress turned, bedding washed and bed remade, and it went from 0-60 mph in 6 seconds.

I tried to put in a small bed in back. But by the time I got home with the edgers, soil and mulch it was later than I wanted. I did get a small amount of stuff done. And cleaned the garage a bit.

For dinner it's watermelon and pizza. I'll let the neighbors set off the fireworks. Not like they haven't been handling it masterfully since Friday night or anything.

i didn't do it all myself! one of the kids helped me pick the corn and get it & the chicken ready for grilling, and i got the bedding off and turned the mattress but his mum (100 years old, bless her) remade it herself while we were all busy doing the other things, not wanting to wait.

i'm in under the fan and just waiting for them to come back indoors to eat. my brain's still at the 'noooooooooo, not ready to do this yet' phase it was in back at 10 this morning!
