Happy Ides of March!

Happy Ides of March everyone!

I guess this is one of those hard-to-know-how-to-celebrate holidays....

What? You don't have assholes wandering around your town in togas and bearing long, sharp daggers? Consider yourself lucky.

You've got strange ganstas in your town. Mine just have the usual hanging-off-the-ass pants and glocks.

Same here, except for the ides of March. Well, most of the local gangstas can't afford a Glock, so they carry cheapshit imports, as likely to damage the user as the intended target.

Oh well, the Glock itself is imported. Just think Swiss guns at Italian parties.

Given my own views about Caesar, I have mixed feelings. He was a tyrant, but the Liberators botched the deal and Rome ended up with the Triumvirs, who were far worse. Contrary to popular belief, I have a higher opinion of Caesar than of Augustus. Caesar just made himself Dictator, but preserved the essential form of the Republic. Augustus replaced the Republic with the Principate and guaranteed its future with the Praetorians.

Not that Antony was any better, or Lepidus. And all three had Cicero's blood on their hands.
