According to the Old Farmer's Almanac, July 2, aka: today, is the 183rd day of the year. There are, the OFA contends, 182 days left in 2006, making this "Hump Day." So my fellow AH degenerates, what have you done of a noteworthy nature in the first half of the year, other than endure, and what do you have planned for the remainder, besides more of the same?

Um, wrote and sold 3 short stories to publishers (with my partner).

Wrote and sold 3 short stories to websites/eZines (without my partner).

Added approximately 40,000 words (total) to my three novel-length works in progress.

Did my first erotica book reading. *blush*

Pulled together another volume of Coming Together (which should be ready for sale by tomorrow).

Traveled to Texas for the most amazing "writers' retreat" EVER ('til the next one).

Walked away from a toxic business relationship.

And for the rest of the year ... more of the same (re writing), plus:

An erotica reading/signing in NYC in August.

A vacation to Nova Scotia in September.

The LaJolla Writer's Conference in October.

Surgery (minor) in November.

Is that all?

Sweet mother-of-pearl. I need to go lay down. I'm worn out just reading all that.

Survived.

Completed first novel.

Worked on two others.

Found a property for Arts Centre and arranged funding for current development.

Find publisher for first novel.

Celebrate publication of short story for which I won an award twelve months ago.

Complete two novels in progress.

Finish current development project and secure development consent for Arts Centre.

Set up design team for web based arts project.

Continue to work with the artist in the family including planning visit to US for exhibition next spring.

got picked up by e-publisher for my first novel

finished my second one

decided to leave my partner of 5 1/2 years. Departing in two weeks.

To do:

Start a completely new life.

Oh, and sell my second novel and finish my third.

Not much else going on.

Might as well join the parade with...

Finished a novel
Got well into a second novel
Found some worthwhile minds with whom to discuss writing and other matters
Did one of the best concert performances of my life
Made the hard decision to leave the venue in which I made that performance
Made available for public viewing some of my writing and didn't immediately 1) die 2) hide under the bed 3) disappear from view completely
Got my damn braces off my teeth!!

Must

Revise said finished novel and decide if it is worth shopping for a publisher or just shoving in the drawer
Finish draft on other novel
Finish a whole SLEW of short stories, either writing, revising, or rethinking
Keep up with my self-commitment to actually SUBMIT said stories (marketing, not my strong point, I need an agent who loves me)
Take steps to improve my health, as it's starting to slip toward the inevitable
Go to San Diego and Toronto
Plan to get to Ohio somehow, someday
Get to Virginia, same plan

I have submitted three more novels to my on-line publisher.

I am working on two more novels.

I submitted a story to the Nude Day Contest.

Damn, you guys write novels, sell stuff to publishers and stuff. I'm such an amateur. I haven't even written anything, except boring work stuff.

So far: Learned stuff like sociolinguistics and conversation analysis. Took up music making again.

Today: Gotta find something to hump, I guess.

The rest: Start a business. Get (back) my driver's license. Learn didactics. Find a distibution venue for the music.

I survived. That's always my starting point.

Got over a nasty hit to my ego.

Wrote.

Lost a good friend.

Submitted a couple of things to a publisher. First was rejected. Once decoded I believe it was because there wasn't enough sex in it. Haven't heard back from the other yet.

The rest of the year?

Do more good things and less bad.

First Half of the Year:

Went to my first & second writing workshops (and didn't get laughed or ridiculed out of the building)
Started my commitment to reshape myself physically into the "man I want to be" and have lost nearly 3 inches off the waist and 10 lbs thus far.
Attended my first convention as a professional writer.

Second Half of the Year:

Start working on reshaping myself mentally/emotionally to be the "person I want to be" and stop being so mean to myself.
Go to my second convention as a professional writer. (San Diego)
Visit Mexico.
Go back to Toronto for a visit.
Finish revising my first novel.
Submit a story to a publisher. (preferably my revised novel)

First half of the year, I tried desperately to be a good person. I worked very hard at my job and was underappreciated. I still did what I had to do, drew a smile on my face with lipstick and decided life would get better.

I enjoyed my son, tried to make my married life better and set out to make others happy.

The second half of the yaer, I will be unemployed. I will continue to enjoy my life and try once in a while to make myself happy.

January to July:

My writing portfolio exploded with new material.
I won one contest and did very well in another despite being ineligible.
I joined Survivor.
I came up with three novel plots.
I came up with 30+ story plots.
I began my first novel.
I decided to try going pro.
I tackled Shakespeare.
I learned that I can do anything I put my mind to.
I lost someone whom I deeply respected and admired.
I made many friends.
I rid myself of a toxic individual.
I made significant progress in my singing career.

For the rest of the year:

More time and effort devoted to my creative endeavors.
A seaside retreat sometime in July or August.
More singing gigs booked for the coming months.
The renewal of my residence visa. Blarg!
Serious contest participation for Halloween.
Continuing to hold the fort at home as well as helping in the business.

First half:

Went to work and paid the bills.
Drank a lot, and failed to quit smoking.

Second half:

I dunno, but I need to start doing something.

Q_C

But it's July, not June.

Did I skip forward a month, while the rest of the world stood still?

Did I do it in the TARDIS?

Am I The Doctor?

I wondered if someone would notice. :) Thanks, I've now corrected that small, two-letter error. The rest of the info is correct, trust me.

You see, the problem is I'm one of those poor souls who doesn't catch on it's a new month until about the 10th, and it's usually mid-February before my mind accepts it's a new year.

When did that happen :(

I SHOULD have celebrated this day by humping a cutie, but no cutie showed up at the beach, in spite of me lying there until the sun almost went down!

that seems most unfair! of course, I've found there is a dirth of cuties on our beaches here in central florida... when I can honestly (and I do mean HONESTLY) classify myself as one of the top 10 on a beach on a given day... well... that is a sad sad state of affairs as far as the beach cuteness factor!

you still have tonight babe... try a club!

First half: added 67% to my Lit writing (and posted 1 of the 2), attended (or couldn't) far too many funerals, almost (1 week left) completed pre-teacher-training-training.

Second half: more writing (given requisite colour of the moon) and start the teacher-training itself and (Gee, look at those air-born pigs!) get a job offer (I'm told that over half do).

The first half of the year, I worked on an increasingly shaky job as an editor. As I write this on July 3, I still have the job but no money. I also have had too many arguments with my girlfriend to count. I submitted no erotic stories, but did submit two reviews/essays I culled from my newspaper writing (one of them is still in development; I hope you folks read it).

The second half of the year is hard to figure. My girlfriend says she will break up with me if I don't get a job in her city and move there before she starts teaching again in August. Since we have had a long-distance relationship practically all that time -- she learned of the teadching job only a month after we met -- the request is reasonable, but whether it's all worth it is very much up in the air. I will take a vacation trip and decide afterwards what to do next.

I have been putting much of my writing effort into news stories and into a chess book -- I love the game and am trying to put together a manual for my students. I have some story ideas, but haven't been motivated to write them all out yet.

One thing I definitely want is to make new friends on Literotica and related sites, and I hope to make a lot of them. I also want to get a bunch of back pay that's been owed me (about a third of the salary I have been promised has never been paid) and see about using it to relocate -- whether to my girlfriend's hometown or elsewhere is a big question. So many things in my life are money-driven!

I still read Literotica stories every day and might review some of them on another board.
