Happy Father's Day

What Makes a Dad?

God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of all ages,
The power of the eagles' flight,
The joy of a morning in Spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity, and
The depth of a family need.

Then God combined these qualities.
And when there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so, He called it - DAD!

Thanks for starting this thread DGO, there are alot of great men here on Lit that deserve to be recognized, some are fathers, some are not, some act as father figures. To each and everyone... Thank you.

I loved the quiz. It was fun to do, I missed one and it said that I was a expert and probably watch too much tv! lol.

Fathers and Dads

The difference is as wide as an ocean.

A father, who after a brief moment of pleasure, donates a tiny little sperm that gets lucky enough to make the long swim successfully and creates a life.
A dad, who may have had nothing to do with the first part, takes that young life and in a process involving much time and patience, creates a person.

A father will occasionally take pleasure in the child’s life as long as it doesn’t interfere too much in his, all the while patting himself on the back for doing a good job.
A dad never gets to pat himself on the back because his job is never done.

A father, upon hearing of a problem, will yell and dole out punishment.
A dad, with the same problem, may still yell but will search for a solution.

A father works all day to provide for his children, but never seems to have the time for them.
A dad works all day too, but somehow manages to find moments to make special.

A father tries to find time with his children and squeezes them into his schedule.
A dad is there for his children when they need it most. Every time!

A father buys his children toys and tells them to go play.
A dad buys the same toys and says lets go play.

A father thinks his job is mostly done except for those moments that are convenient for him.
A dad knows that the child will always come first, even when it’s not convenient or easy.
He takes pleasure in what he was given because he does consider it a gift.

But most of all, a dad knows that he will never, ever have a more important job in this whole world than that of dad.

Acting like a real man isn’t going out with the boys, it’s being with your boys (or girls).

Happy "Daddy Day"

Wrote that for a couple of "potential" dads for my grandchildren.
Maybe one is getting it!

Proud to be a daddy.

The greatest gift a father can receive is seeing his children striking out on their own and getting it right :) .

that's a great pic

Thank you, I found these while searching my heritage of Cherokee, Navajo plus Irish.....what a mixture, the Irish blood craves the whiskey and the Indian can't handle it. Talk about a last stand. It was mine the last time I drank the stuff. LOL
