Yes, another nice Pagan holiday expropriated by the Christians, and unlike Yule, they didn't even change the name of this one. But that's ok; the Goddess of Spring still rules the first Sunday after the first Full Moon after the Vernal Equinox, and her prolific hares and fertile eggs take first place. :)

But there's room for everyone in primo verde, not only Christians, but even old-time Atheists like me; after all, everyone loves a parade, with or without bonnets. So here's my offering of an Easter treat, a vision of the Goddess herself, sending my best fecund wishes to one all...

Sara X Does Easter

and I invite all and sundry (and even the sundried) to extend their wishes as well. :rose:

:D that was great!

Personally I prefer my eggs unfertilised these days ;) - and hares jugged, but since the modern version of Easter/Oestre involves a lot of chocolate, I'm all for it. :p

Which reminds me; I have a little cream egg that needs consuming. . . .

Happy Ishtar Day! Fuck like bunnies!

Or maybe like rabid weasels.

It's a tradition.

As it happens, we shall be in San Francisco with the kids and grandkids. The wee monsters (ages 5 and 7 now) are allowed candy twice a year, on Hallowe'en and Easter. They will perform their own sucrose-fired pagan rites on the garden hillside between the family's two houses. (Cousins are in the uphill house.) We adults must remain clothed. But I'll carve a few new gods to scatter in the garden. They're always exciting to find.

She's got beautiful eyes!

To Hypoxia - candy only twice a year for the li'l darlings?!? That's just cruel! Family services reportable cruel!

Wait, she has eyes?

Actually you're right, they are gorgeous, I tend to make eyes one of the first things I look at in a woman. Because I'm weird I suppose.

Ummm... It was a joke, LC. And yes, she does have beautiful yes.

This thread's a bit late, the equinox was at the start of the week.

Which means that Pagans like me get a head start on the chocolate! :D

What a hilarious way to start the day :D
Now to actually start my day, and get on with baking lamb shaped cakes for tomorrow. *crosses fingers* Hopefully this year, I won't have to complete frosting surgery on any snapped necks

As it is indeed the time to celebrate the benison of the Goddess, I'm busily making Simnel Cakes, the traditional Easter cake here in England. They look yummy, and smell divine, all that toasted marzipan, and I've had to lock them in the scullery kitchen otherwise Will is going to stuff one in his face when I'm not looking. To all of you, the blessings of the Goddess at this time of renewal and rebirth!

My San Francisco son-in-law was a celebrity chef before his vision deteriorated. (His clients, not he, were the celebs.) Meals once prepared for rich assholes are now served to friends and family alone. And yes, tomorrow's Easter feast will include BBQ rabbit. (He was a northwoods redneck before going culinary.)
Throw another bunny on the barbie, baby
Toss another rabbit on the coals...
