Kinda hard to drink when you can't afford alcohol and have to work the next day at noon!
Add in the fact that they are treating tomorrow as the stat holiday in terms of paying us and that I have to miss a slice of the annual Canada Day cake from Safeway, and I'm on ticked off guy!! Kinda hard to drink when you can't afford alcohol and have to work the next day at noon!
I guess you're non-union, Topace. Today is the official holiday and you are entitled to the overtime for it. They might give the day off tomorrow as the stat holiday, but you should get paid the O/T today. I'd send a call to the Labour Board on that one, but I know you might get flak from it if you do.

Talk to your steward today. I used to be a steward in CUPW and wreaked misery on management if they tried to fuck us out of money or time. If it was me, I'd stage a work to rule sit down and not move, until they agreed to our demands. Spoiling food is not a good bottom line for them, so they'd have to decide quick, or start losing money.
I cost Canada Post over $2 million in lost revenues, just because they reneged on an agreement with us. Took officials from Ottawa and local heads to settle it. We won and got what we wanted and they never went back on anything again.
