If wishes were scales we grow on fishes
I'd say it's a good thing
you have enough to cover your tail :p.

<: )))))>< I wish all the wishes I can wish for you to have a happy day Rybka. Happy Birthday.

Thanks everyone for the Birthday wishes. Today was the BIG one. I am officially older than dirt and Medicare has now kicked in!
:nana: :nana: :nana:
That is the most important thing when they want $115 for a 5 minute blood clotting time test, and want to do it every two weeks!

I think I'm going to stop counting the years beyond now. ;)

Thanks again, Poets. Now get busy and write!

Oh fishy! That is vile! I've been taking coumadin for six months, now. The first 2 weeks were spent with me getting a daily pt time and a heparin shot. Thankfully, that decreased to weekly and last month, I called the doc and asked him if he didn't think my lab visits could be decreased in frequency. He laughed when he told me that could have happened 4 months ago. I think if I'd been paying cash out of my own pocket there'd have been some hollerin' HEY a while ago. Ahhh, national health care, the mark of a truly socialist nation with a vote.

Anyway, I'm glad you've had a happy celebration and can only wish you many more.

Happy birthday, Rybbie.

If I remember correctly (I am not yet older than dirt, merely older than scree), you are fond of Mr. MacLeish. Here's one I like:

Dr. Sigmund Freud Discovers the Sea Shell

Science, that simple saint, cannot be bothered
Figuring what anything is for:
Enough for her devotions that things are
And can be contemplated soon as gathered.

She knows how every living thing was fathered,
She calculates the climate of each star,
She counts the fish at sea, but cannot care
Why any one of them exists, fish, fire or feathered.

Why should she? Her religion is to tell
By rote her rosary of perfect answers.
Metaphysics she can leave to man:
She never wakes at night in heaven or hell

Staring at darkness. In her holy cell
There is no darkness ever: the pure candle
Burns, the beads drop briskly from her hand.

Who dares to offer Her the curled sea shell!
She will not touch it!--knows the world she sees
Is all the world there is! Her faith is perfect!

And still he offers the sea shell . . .

What surf
Of what far sea upon what unknown ground
Troubles forever with that asking sound?
What surge is this whose question never ceases?
