Yep.

Happy 75th Birthday had you lived.

As I drove to work to today I was bombarded with Elvis Tunes.

Several of them stuck in my head throughout the day.

Especially this one:

You know I can be found,
Sitting home all alone,
If you can't come around,
At least please telephone.
Don't be cruel to a heart that's true.

Baby, if I made you mad
For something I might have said,
Please, lets forget the past,
The future looks bright ahead,
Don't be cruel to a heart that's true.
I don't want no other love,
Baby it's just you I'm thinking of.

Don't stop thinking of me,
Don't make me feel this way,
Come on over here and love me,
You know what I want you to say.
Don't be cruel to a heart that's true.
Why should we be apart?
I really love you baby, cross my heart.

Lets walk up to the preacher
And let us say I do,
Then you'll know you'll have me,
And I'll know that I'll have you,
Don't be cruel to a heart that's true.
I don't want no other love,
Baby it's just you I'm thinking of.

Don't be cruel to a heart that's true.
Don't be cruel to a heart that's true.
I don't want no other love,
Baby it's just you I'm thinking of.

As a former resident of Memphis...I say...long live the King of Rock and Roll.

Got some favorite Elvis memories?

I was out of the loop today, nice opt to turn everything off, and save for later. Glad I didn't let evening slip by though.

A friend of mine in Memphis used to "baby sat" by Donna Jean Godchaux. She was a back up singer for Elvis and other artists.

She was also a member of the Grateful Dead.

Too Fucking cool!

Another one of my FAVS:

Burning Love

Lord almighty,
I feel my temperature rising
Higher higher
Its burning through to my soul

Girl, girl, girl
You gonna set me on fire
My brain is flaming
I don't know which way to go

Your kisses lift me higher
Like the sweet song of a choir
You light my morning sky
With burning love

Ooh, ooh, ooh,
I feel my temperature rising
Help me, Im flaming
I must be a hundred and nine
Burning, burning, burning
And nothing can cool me
I just might turn into smoke
But I feel fine

Cause your kisses lift me higher
Like a sweet song of a choir
And you light my morning sky
With burning love

Its coming closer
The flames are reaching my body
Please wont you help me
I feel like Im slipping away
Its hard to breath
And my chest is a-heaving

Lord almighty,
Im burning a hole where I lay
Cause your kisses lift me higher
Like the sweet song of a choir
You light my morning sky
With burning love
With burning love
Ah, ah, burning love
Im just a hunk, a hunk of burning love
Just a hunk, a hunk of burning love
Just a hunk, a hunk of burning love
Just a hunk, a hunk of burning love
Just a hunk, a hunk of burning love
Just a hunk, a hunk of burning love

I remember when Aloha From Hawaii was broadcast.

Most folks were watching the game...my family was watching Elvis.

Suspicious Mind

We're caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much baby

Why can't you see
What you're doing to me
When you don't believe a word I say?

We can't go on together
With suspicious minds
And we can't build our dreams
On suspicious minds

So, if an old friend I know
Drops by to say hello
Would I still see suspicion in your eyes?

Here we go again
Asking where I've been
You can't see these tears are real
I'm crying

We can't go on together
With suspicious minds
And be can't build our dreams
On suspicious minds

Oh let our love survive
Or dry the tears from your eyes
Let's don't let a good thing die

When honey, you know
I've never lied to you
Mmm yeah, yeah

I like this one. Also the Hawaiian Wedding song he did in I believe Blue Hawaii.

What amazes me is just how "little" elvis was ( prior the last few years).....

Yeah, I went to Graceland...took my cousin who a fanatic. I always envisioned him as a hulk of man.

The dude was a relatively small man....no shit.

As compared to his image.

They say he was 5' 11" and I say Bullshit.

You see his clothes and you can judge for yourself.

I think they pump his height up.

They got him planted out in the back yard.

Well, it's really the side yard.

You think of Graceland and you envision....luxury.

Not so.

The house is waaaayyy smaller than many houses today.

And his grave parallels the road.

And it is one of the WORST neighborhoods in Memphis if not THE worst.

Guaranteed..if Elvis would had lived a few more years....his ass would has vacated...

Elvis

It was 1954 and it was Memphis. I was just back from Korea ... I got my first job as a Lawyer and one of the partners asked me to have a drink with him at a honky tonk just out side of Memphis. He said to me "you gotta watch this guy play here ... he's somethin' else"

The place was called "The Silver Slipper" and the guy who was 'somethin' else was Elvis Presley.

He was only working there on weekends and drove a delivery truck for a parts store daytimes if I remember right.

Sun Records was a few blocks down the street on Union Avenue.

I was 24 ... Elvis was 20. Twenty Two years later I went to his funeral.
No I didn't know Elvis well or anything like that but I'll say it one more time;
"He was somethin' else"

Little no

He was 5'10" and maybe 140 when he was in his 20s. That's a fact... All legs as they say

I have a friend who has his scarf from a concert. She cherishes it.
I was in Vegas at the time the sliver slipper blew off the building. It was a really big shoe! It was a really big wind storm, too.

Thank you for posting all of this.
