May you have the happiest of days, youngster. ;)

All good things to you
Happy Birthday dear woman

Sonnet XXXV

And then it was her birthday, and I knew
I'd better write her something good. At least
some piece I had not writ before. You see,
she can be very cranky, someone who
would want all kind of silly things in poems:
a story about rebirth, one that spills
quite crazy goings on, unearthly thrills,
dramatics, death and life—hell, even songs!

But quiet I feel. Subtle, even. Wan.
It's prob'ly 'cuz I haven't been in sun—
though she's not either been, as she's Canuck,
and Calgary in winter's dark as muck.
It is no matter. Whine of wine I must.
She said it was her birthday. Her, I trust.

Chinook Arch

In Calgary, chinooks will come and blow
the cold and darkness eastward to the land
of rolling grasses and wrap the bands
of winter tight around the fields of snow.
The arch slips down the rocky mountain face
to settle o'er the town down on the Bow.
Its warm winds trapped in currents' flow
against the foothills' smoothly sweeping grace.
The icy grip of frozen fingers melt
inside the blasting winds out of the west
and through high passes off the Rocky breast.
Sonoran desert air and drying breezes felt
against the frozen poplar branches tease
buds to leaf. Warm Chinook blow, winter's ease

Happy birthday, CC. - from a point north of where you are.

Happy Birthday calli! Have a great day! I'm drinking to the woman I have so many unwholesome thoughts about. If there wasn't an ocean between us I would be in jail now.

*How come all the great people have birthdays in february?*
