I just happened to walk by Hank's Memorial Leavings up on 56th street outside the Howard Stern building here in Manhattan.

Hank died yesterday - in his sleep - at his moms house - at the age of 39.

Everybody has left liquor bottles, beer and Vodka mostly. Hank loved his Vodka.

No more.

No more Hank.

We will miss him.

So, who was Hank?

Who's Hank?

Hank is one of the many personalities on the Howard Stern show. A campaign on the Internet to make Hank People Magazine's 'Most Beautiful Person In The World' was one of the first major demonstrations to the 'old media' of how grass roots activity on the Internet can keep things from going the way you might expect.

The entire vote is loaded with people who wouldn't normally show up on such a survey if it was in a print magazine. Hank and Ric Flair (no. 2) are definately there because of the Internet. Take them away and you're left with Leo DeCaprio and Kate Winslet, who would have probably both made the list in a mail in survey. Gillian Anderson would also have probably made it, but I'd bet she wouldn't have scored as highly as she did here. Faye Wong (No. 7) also appeared on the list thanks to grass roots campaigning on the 'net, as did John Linnell (no. 9).

People Magazine was quick to clarify that the 'net survey had nothing to do with their print survey. Imagine if People's cover looked like this on May 8 after the survey.

I WROTE A THREAD DEDICATED TO HIM YESTERDAY

But it's cool, Sparky, that you were able to post a pic of him. I tried to do that yesterday but Lit won't download any 'art' pics. It's cool that you were able to actually witness the tribute in New York. I can only hear about it on the radio. Thanks Sparky. It looks like you and I are the only 2 Howard Stern/Hank fan on the board.
I have to admit, he may have been drunk most of the time but Hank was a very smart man.

He's not dead, he took off with Elvis. Actually, he looks suspiciously like one of the construction workers digging up the alley next to my house.

Uber Smart little man.....

I mean - I know tons of rock trivia - but he had me beat.

I watched the Rock & Roll Jepordy rerun yesterday. The contestants were K.C. (from K.C. & the Sunshine Band), Weird Al Yankovich, and "Bubba Booey". Sparky, Bubba Booey kicked some serious ass. His score was 15,300 before the final question but he only lost 5,000 after getting the final question wrong. Of course, he won the show. But I could only wonder how awesome Hank would have done. I think he beat Bubba Booey once with music trivia.

Please, no emails for the next 2 minutes

In memory of Hank, the Dwarf.
The shorter they are, the lesser the fall.

Just for clearification.....

That's "Baba or Bahbah" Booey.

It's a long story - Gary (he's Howard's producer) - was once (probably still is) into collecting "cartoon cells."

He told Howard one morning that he had proudly purchased - Baba Booey - WRONG!

Was a cell of Baba Looey - the sidekick character of Quick Draw McGraw.

Gary caught hell from Howard for buying an expensive cell and not even knowing the characters real name.

Every since they've called Gary - Baba Booey or Booie - whatever.

Gary did loose to Hank - I heard a repeat of it this morning.

I remember. It looks like you've been listening to Howard as long as I have.
They also call him, "Fa Fa Fooey", "Fla Fla Fohai", and "Horse Tooth Jackass".
With a boss like Howard, I'll never understand why Gary hasn't quit yet. But then again, while on Jepordy, he said, "I've been doing the job for 16 years and I love it everyday." I guess that spells it out for me.

I started listening in DC - when he first started on DC101.....

Later, post Howard - where the Grease Man (Dough Tracht) was fired.

I don't even know how long that has been.

I got my FCC 1st Class license at the very same schoolt Howard did - down in Fredricksburg VA. He went throught the class a month or so prior to my going.

I love radio.

He and I are the same age - same graduating year HS. I'm a couple months older. He has 3 daughters and is now divorced - I have 3 sons and am divorced.

We did the same drugs - listened to the same music - oogled the same girls.

He's a bit more of a wimp than I - but I forgive him.

I know you are, Kym. But "REST IN PEACE LITTLE MAN" has been posted for a whole fucking day and it has been totally ignored it. That's why I thought that Sparky and I were the only fans here.

Remember my hours. I work when everyone else is sleeping and I work when everyone gets up and I go to sleep when you start posting. lol

Yeah, it sucks. Today they said they're going to make them take the memorial down.
