From here:

In the 1960s and '70s, a rebellious generation embraced hallucinogens and a wide array of street drugs to "turn on, tune in and drop out." Almost half a century later, magic mushrooms, LSD, Ecstasy and ketamine are being studied for legitimate therapeutic uses. Scientists believe these agents have the potential to help patients with post-traumatic stress disorder, drug or alcohol addiction, unremitting pain or depression and the existential anxiety of terminal illness.

Very interesting article.

Some evidence indicates that one therapy session with LSD can do more lasting good than years of antidepressants and talk therapy...

Our brains are very subtle and fragile things.

Fragile is the problem, I'm thinkin'.

Ok, fine, I'll make a joke.

What if a schizophrenic with mulltiple personality disorder gets in a fight with a personality while having a bad trip? Or what if one personality is having fun, while the other is scared?

Seriously, that's not going to end well for any of the person involved.

You lack any understanding of schizophrenia. It is not multiple personalities. The 'schizm' in the etymology refers to the persons being cut off from reality not several personalities inhabiting one brain. Do look things up before you appear too much the fool.

Look closer, just saying, maybe I don't lack anything.

Ditto this. Schizophrenia is one of the most horrifying and tragic of all mental disorders.

That really is tragic.
And we spend how much on Viagra research ?.
Perhaps we should have a tax on Viagra and use it to try & help schizophrenics.

There's a lot of sense in the joke about mental health; "with millions spent on erectile dysfunction and cosmetic surgery, we'll have an aged population with a raging hard-on or perky boobs and not a clue what to do with them."

I like you, 'cause smart.

Agreed. There are hundreds of ignored mental health issues that are far greater than mis-reading something and complaining about it or more money making research.

At least these researchers with the 'acid' are looking at something with conscience, rather specifically, to understand, instead of jumping to pre-coneived conclusions...

See what I did there-------^

Circa 1960s/1970s: "Reality is just for those who can't handle drugs."
