I sincerely hope that when they form their opinion, they will not cut out parts that inconveniently give the lie to what you falsely claim but read the whole and original entry:

When they do, they will see that before this entry there had already been several accusations and that they continue with sr71_plt, NOIRTRASH and SusanJill Parker to name three off the top of my head who have been thus accused. Also, when they do, I think they will wonder why you ignore this and single me out, Bramblethorn. Indeed, they themselves may begin to wonder about Bramblethorn...

Alts? I got tons of alts. I'm so unpopular my stories require them. Its stunning how improved I write with an alt. I mean, some of the alts get red H's, one got a green E. BRAMBLETHORN is on my shitlist, PILOT is on my shitlist, but PILOTs alts are easy to spot. The alt worships PILOT.

Er, no. Adding an "even if I'm wrong" after an allegation doesn't un-make it. It just signals that you're expecting other people to challenge it.

Three possibilities:

(1) the allegation was made by somebody who's already on my ignore list (there are a couple such in this thread) and so I didn't see it.
(2) the person making the allegation appeared to believe that it was true (as opposed to openly admitting that they made it up).
(3) the person who made the allegation didn't flag themselves as a hypocrite by complaining about the same atmosphere that they were feeding.

Indeed, they themselves may begin to wonder about Bramblethorn...

I've been around a while. I dare say most people here have already formed an opinion of me, one way or another, and I doubt this discussion is going to make much difference to those opinions.

Anyway, this is getting tedious so I'm going to add you to my ignore list now. Bye.

Am I?

My first story was bombed twice, first when new and it had an avge of well above 4.50, then again after about a month when it had recovered to 4.55. I have no doubt that should it once again get back to above 4.50 it will once more be bombed off the Hot List so that as few people as possible get to read it.

Also, tell me that writers are not curious enough about the initial reactions when they have posted a spanking new story to take a gander every now and then! How would you react if your lovechild that you've spent many weeks on, rewriting it entirely twice until you know it is a very good story, better than the first you posted on Litterotics, and it gets bombed down to 3.23?

I think you're being waaaaay to sensitive here and taking offence where none was meant - and you're criticizing others who are some of the few who will jump in and offer you advice on these boards. Your initial question was a good one, and it started of a really interested discussion that I learnt a lot from but your taking the whole ratings thing way to seriously for someone whose just started posting stories here and with the third story just up.

Speaking from my own personal experience, my early stories (from the middle of last year) did not get rated that well -and I'm writing in categories that are relatively popular with larger numbers of viewers. I entered in the Halloween contest last year and my entry was middle of the road as far as ratings are concerned. Ditto views. Don't hear me complaining and whining - I just treated it as a learning experience. I'm doing better this year, and I have real trolls I've picked up, not just readers who don't particularly like my stories. Still won't be winning this but I've sure learnt a lot this go round.

My advice - don't take it to heart, learn from it, if you're concerned about ratings, read the other top rated stories in your category as well as those advice for authors articles that people have written over the years - there's some good stuff there - and don't be too hasty criticizing other users who have jumped in to offer advice and the benefit of their prior experience - there's a lot of people here who have been writing far longer than you or I and whom we can both learn from.

And seriously, good luck with your writing :) it's tough putting yourself out there in front of everyone time after time... (cue Cyndi Lauper....)

Well this is crap.

He said she "had a great story." Quote unquote.

His problem is with a.) moving a story's category after the contest has started, and b.) the nontransparency of the sweeps and a story coming from behind to "win" at the 11th hour.

Whether you agree or not, they're both valid points, and (most importantly) verifiable and factually true.

8Letters' complaints here are way more substantial than, I don't know, suggesting that the winner has painted by numbers after consulting the "How To" section on lit (lmao) or shadowy accusations of a cheating cabal.

And count me one of those finding your outrage ironic. Not to mention hypocritical.

One does not need to be part of a "group" or have won a contest to be disgusted at the way you impugn the integrity of writers on this site. Your accusations are an insult to everyone.

Well that leaves one reason, you simply didn't think it was good enough. You're being passive aggressive here. "I'm not bitter, then yap yap yap. You wrote a great story, but yap yap yap."

Seriously tacky there. But if we're going to be honest, you're pretty goddamn full of yourself and I know I'm not the only one that's seen that.

You had a handful of unremarkable stories spread out over a couple years, then have three or four in the last couple of months, that have done very well and one placed in a contest. Good for you, seriously.

But the way you tell people what you think of their writing in the feedback forum is condescending and that's putting it nicely. Now you come out and tell someone they didn't deserve a win for no other reason than you didn't think it deserved it as you, one reader.

That author was very green so the story being mis-catogorized was a mistake, and it was laurel's decision to move it and the second she did I told Everlux that if she had been here longer people would have bitched. But someone is anyway in that great modern day passive aggressive way.

The hall of fame? Sure, its nice in the beginning until you see more and more manipulation of it and then read a lot of them and wonder how the hell they got there. Your amazon gift card was worth more than a HOF spot, trust me.

The summer loving contest was one of the few in the last couple years that had no BS or complaints. Three people won for the first time and that was great to see and incest took two of three which made me very happy personally.

Don't ruin a nice finish by pretty much saying their story wasn't good enough to win.

Just keep something in mind. There are some seriously good writers on this site. Writers that have been doing it for a long time here and other places. Those people have forgotten better stories than you'll ever write if you keep up your superiority complex. Don't talk down to those you think aren't as good to you, try looking up at the ones you want to be.

To be clear, I'm not saying I'm one of them. Hell, I'm a self described hack and I'm sure others will agree. Here anyway, other places, well, you might be surprised.

Just try to keep it in your pants. You're no better-or worse-than anyone else here.

Absolutely. NicoleZ's problem, I think, is not bothering to look around when she entered Literotica to observe the people and process, and going over the top on everything. She's gone over the top on the sole comment thus far on her story, which was as likely a legitimate comment as was her over-the-top "ignoramous" slam of it. She obviously is oblivious to the oft-provided advice to hang tough on contest ratings, because sweeps always adjust them in the end. It appears, in the overreaction realm, that she has now closed off voting and comments on that story. If so, her story should be taken off the contest listing. It no longer qualifies for the contest and there's no reason it should be receiving the extra billing these stories are getting. Closing the voting and commenting down on the basis she has, is, in any event, overreaction. The story had only been up a couple of days and it was humongously long. It's natural it would take a few days for readers to wade through it to vote and comment.

Her taking off on any poster not kissing her grits, though, reminds me of a comment one of my colleagues put on an employee's fitness report once (the comment being spot on.) "X doesn't suffer fools easily; his problem is in determining who is the fool."
