Our national anthem is a little rubbish too, and very English - we usually end up mumbling the second verse because we're not sure of the actual words. It does to sound better in te reo (the Māori language) ... I'm sure the English one would sound better in Welsh or Gaelic, but I'm guessing it would be difficult to get people on board with that?

Your de facto anthem is pretty good.

beew, old pots and weapons are cool, but this is way cooler. And it's not just about the ancient traditions of an indigenous people, because that's only part of why it's important. It's become relevant and unifying in a modern culture. It's practiced by every ethnicity, because it's a national tradition for every ethnicity of person who happens to be a New Zealander.

It's like the national anthem in physical form. And it happens to look cool as fuck. To dismiss it as some quaint, antiquated, ethnic history show is to completely ignore a massive part of a modern culture.

Spanish Flamenco, or old English sea shanties also get me in the feels, but you can't say either of them have anywhere near the same cultural power as a Haka. You wouldn't get Spanish school kids breaking into spontaneous group flamenco in the face of tragedy, because it just isn't accessible in the same way.

You do see spontaneous renditions of the Star Spangled Banner, because the yanks picked an uplifting tune with stirring lyrics. As long as the singers can carry a tune.

Well, I can see why women are barred from Morris dancing ... such a masculine expression of masculinity is obviously just too masculine for them.
(And I mean that in the nicest possible way in respect of the men out there who aren't particularly masculine ... because I'm sure even you wouldn't want to Morris dance.)
