I just wanted to know if there are other people out there who have the same problem.

I just can't seem to find the right hairstyle for me.
I tried very short hair, I tried longer hair, I tried hairspray, gel, I asked my barber but I just don't find a hairdo that fits my personality and makes me look good. :(
The next thing i'm trying is bring in some color by streaks. But I don't think it's gonna change anything.

The same goes for my glasses as well. Just can'T seem to find glasses that suit me.
I often see people with different glasses that I like but whenever I get new ones and try those I have seen they just look dumb on me.
Dammit.

So any other people out there who feel the same ?? You know we could have a http://www.planetsmilies.com/smilies/love/love28.gif

That's one of the reasons why I shave my head... I do it once a week... It looks good AND I save tons of money on barbers... :D

dunno about hair styles, found one that half assed works for me even tho it makes me look like a totalk geek/dork/nerd what ever, other than that i 100% feel ya on the glasses well at least the sunglasses part :)

I am a guy, so consider this when reading.

I also have had problems with my hair throughout my life. Right now, my hair is fairly short. I tried something called "pomade" for it. I like it alot. It is a winner. If you try one kind of pomade and don't like it, don't give up. Try others until you find one you like.

Good luck with the glasses.

-Peace

I have thick curly hair that has always driven me nuts. It doesn't grow long, it grows bushy.

I tend to stick to crew cuts, or totally shaving my head.

I've been told I have a nice cranium,lol.

Saves on paying for a barber also.

I've had much the same problem. It's taken me a very long time before I found the hairstyle and color I like, and now that I have, I intend to keep it that way for oh, say, the next twenty or so years.

Have you tried forking out the money and going to an expensive salon? A really good hairdresser can make all the difference. Tell him/her what you aren't happy about your hair and ask for their advice in styles they think are best for you.

Another problem could be the hair products you use. I've discovered that certain shampoos only serve to my my hair more frizzy. I finially settled upon Pantne Pro V after trying several different kinds.

POMADE?? How the hell can you expect anyone to use POMADE? I'm a Dapper Dan man myself. :)

Someone has spent far too many nights watching O Brother, Where Art Thou? again and again. ;)

There are hair salons that can take a picture of you then put different hairstyles on you, this might help you. You get to see different cuts and colors on your face without even touching your hair! I think there are also programs you can buy for your own personal computer, so maybe that is a cheaper and more private option.

I wear glasses too, and have often encountered this problem. You should just go store to store trying on ALL the glasses in the store - even if they look ugly on the rack, just give them a try. Another thing, is that certain shaped frames look better on certain shaped faces. For example, I have a round face, so wider, thick frames are *supposed* to look better on me. You could probably research this on Google or something.

Be sure to let us know if/when you finally feel you get it right, and Good Luck! :rose:

I'm going to second the motion to visit a more expensive stylist. A $30+ haircut from a good stylist is worth every penny....especially when you have finnicky hair like mine. Plus, they will wash it, show you how to style it, and show you what products to use.

Seriously, you get what you pay for when you go to Supercuts.

I can so relate to this. It dosn't grown down it grows out. My mom refers to it as "the tree effect" and the girl who cuts my hair calls it Zanna Danna Doo hair. I do fight the bangs or no bangs issue. I will let them grow real long and cant do anything with them so I chop them.. then they are short and I cant do anything with them so I grow them out.. this is a vicious cycle.

I'm rather partial to the Sirens scenes and the follow-up scenes in which the frog is of such deep concern. ;)

And then there is the blind railroad man. :D

what shape is your face-that has alot to do with finding the right style, and the type of hair you have. Most bald men look sexy-so that is an option you may want to try.

Well, thnx everybody for your opinion so far. :)

I actually might go to my salon soon. Maybe I should try a different one as well but since I'm moving soon I'll have to try another one anyways.

I think I'll go with some darker streaks this time. I have kinda red-blonde hair, you know, carrot-type of guy, lol.
I think bald or very short hair would look rather stupid. I haven'T tried it but my barber says so as well.
Now I think I'm gonna try a little longer now, for a change. But I'm not too happy with it right now.
My face has been rather round-shpaed but I lost a lot of weight recently so now it's a little skinnier.

The last time I got a haircut the barber used some gel and it DID look alright after that but everytime I tried to copy that at home, it looked horrible.

But i'm still on the search for the right style and if I should finally find it, I'll keep you guys informed. :)

(And chances are good that soon i'll get a camera so you guys might see the result, if I dare ;) )

I went for years with horrifying 'helmet hair' dos! Let's face it girls - the 80's were not nice to women's hair and the 90's sucked bad too. Finally, at the urging of my bald lover, I just gave up and let it grow. The best thing I've done! Ahhh - the freedom. No gels, sprays, blow dryers, curling irons....................

I have a thing for gorgeous long hair on a woman!

Oh, I hear ya.

I hear you, and we want PICS! Then we can give you allll sorts of advice. I like bald, or buzz cuts - very sexy.

Why not contacts for a while? Too much hassle, squeamish eyeballs, cost?

I like the idea of colored streaks, for some reason I had an impression that you were older & more conservative - where did that come from???

I'm letting mine grow long right now, and alternating between great hair days and dreadful ones. Damn humidity and chlorine and stuff.

Well, I'm working on the pics. Next month I might have some money for a digicam. *crossing paws*

I'm still considering contacts, at least trying them once. But the though of putting something onto my eyeball just gives me the creeps for some reason.
But looking at you AV I might get new glasses as well because I only see blurred images, lol :D

I'm 22, so much for older, and even though I'm not a freaky guy, I'm not too conservative.

And don't worry about bad hair days, everyone has them. Most people 364 days a year.

wow!

You're only 22?!?!?!?!? Wowsers. Don't take this the wrong way, I would have guessed 10 or 20 years older than that. You should take some silly pills.

I wear glasses m'self, sometimes I'm told I have a great pissed off librarian look.

Happy makeover!

Now I don't know if I should be flattered that you thought me older or if it should scare me, lol :D

By the way, if you got some of these silly pills, pass them to me....

And I laughed at the line 'Happy makeover', yeah, well I'll see. Might take some time till I can get out on the streets with more self-confidence though.

But you guys will be the first to know, woof.

contacts

i love contacts, and if anyone is even CONSIDERING getting them - you should at least try them one time. just go to the eye dr and say you want to try them on. you will see (at least for soft lenses) that it really doesn't hurt at ALL. it does feel a bit weird at first, but not in a painful way.
at age 13 i found out i needed glasses - and i went straight to contacts, colored ones at that. it's just more fun, and for me less hassle. i have a pair of glasses, and if i'm in my "nerdy mood" i'll wear them (i actually really like my current pair), but mostly they are just for nighttime and sick days.

i wear freshlook colors or acuvue 2 colors, both the 2 week disposable kind.

i wear gelflex lenses - they're soft, easy to use, and non-irritating to the eye.
when i first started on contacts, i found i had major problems with 'dry eye' and red eye, but these lenses are so comfortable, i sometimes forget i'm wearing them!

as for the hair thing, definately go to a higher-class salon - they'll analyze your hair type, fit your style to your face, and advise on colour and styling.
well worth the price.

the glasses thing is a little harder.... take an HONEST friend who you trust with you when trying on frames.
the people in the store might be able to fit you, but they'll lie through their a***es to make a sale.
you need someone who isn't afraid to tell you that you look like shit!
i did that, and ended up with frames i absolutely LOVE! (so much, that even though they're out of stock in the stores, i have contacted the manufacturer to get some custom made in different colours!)

can i chip in some advice??!:D

so go to a salon..... get some referrals from friends, ppl you come across with great hair. ask them not only where they went to but who they went to. makes a big difference....in one salon, there can be great stylists, and shitty stylists. barbers have only a select few cuts they can do well whereas stylists have a greater scope on different looks. when you get some referrals, go for a consultation, if you get a good sense on the stylist and like the suggestions, go for it. barbers may be cheaper but you tend to have to go more often. stylists may be more $$, but the cuts should last you longer. a good stylist should ask you your daily maintenance in regards to your hair, what products you are willling to use, and also teach you how to style your "do", they should also look at the shape of your face, and try to get a sense of your personal "style". get rid of the gel, use pomade or wax instead. gel gets hard and flakes off whereas wax or pomade is softer and is more plyable, and therefore you can play with different looks during the day if you like and it will not flake off.

also, if you're really a red/blonde ish color, darker low lites might look funny.......a more natural look would be goldenish hilites. naturally, your color hair wouldn't get darker chunks in it, but in the sun, your hair could get some natural blonder hilites.

good luck!

just my 2cents :)

oh, something i forgot to say....

at least twice a year, go to the very best hair salon you can.
spend the big $$$ and get the full treatment done - cut, colour (if you want), deep condition, hair analysis, style.

best place to research for a GREAT salon and stylist is at the hair product shows (loreal etc. are on the web) - that way, you can see their work and find a finalist or winner in your area.

good luck.
