 Help can anyone describe to me the colour of hair if it is described as "sable".

I need to know for a story I am writing.

Thanks - now I've got no excuses got to return to my story.

:D

My Websters says 'black or dark brown; dark'

Good place to go for a definition!

Tawny T Widsweetone,

Do you both reckon I might be safest by describing the hair colour as "DARK".

Sorry for being a pain but ...

:rose: :rose: :rose: I'll have to get a big bunch of them.

Thanks Wildsweetone,

Its 3.23 in the early hours here in the UK so I am shutting this pc down and off to my bed - have a nice day.

Sable is actually a very, very dark brown. In essence, have you ever seen someone whose hair looked black until light shone on it and it proved to be a very dark brown? That is sable.

Ladies fellow authors (is that an oxymoron),

Thank you all for your help to a mere man who I guess only sees hair as blonde, ash blonde, peroxide blonde, cornfield gold, red, ginger, reddish brown, mousy, light brown, brown, chestnut, and black.

Now I know what sable is - is my education complete?

 Seriously you have all helped me to get a story right!

 lol

jon 's for all of you
