For the past year or so I have been getting phone calls and mail for a person with the same last name as myself.
All of the calls were from collection companies demanding their money. They didn't believe me when I told them he didn't live here and some of them even got very threatening. I kept a log of these calls and turned them over to the local police, especialy the threatening calls.
The mail, even though I never opened it, seemed to be more of the same. That got to the pint where I collected it and once a week dropped it off at the Police Station. (Returning it didn't work and the police told me to bring it by so,,,,)
Today though things changed. I was talking with one of the detectives when the mailman showed up. We walked out to check the mail even as it was being dropped off and sure enough there were two envelopes for the guy. I handed them over to the detective and he shook his head. The Mailman saw this and asked what was up. The detective told him and the mailman asked for the name again, then he started digging through his box and pulled out several other pieces of mail for the same guy.
He, (the Mailman) said he recognised the name because he had been delivering mail for the guy to a mailbox with a different name. He had asked the homeowner about it and was told that the guy was his room mate.
Both the Detective and I recognised the address because the police are always being called there. The place is a dump, completely trashed but the park can't do anything about it as the owner is there under the auspices of Welfare. (They own the Mobile Home but Welfare pays the Lot Fees.) Getting rid of Section 8 owners is harder than getting rid of Ghost Ants.
Now though things can settle down for me. I have his address. I have already typed up a form type letter I can print out and send back to anyone mailing this guy with his correct address. (The Mailoman gave me a book of stamps just for this.) In the letters I have added his room mates phone number as he doesn't seem to have one.
I have also printed up a bunch of Address Labels with his correct Address on them that I can attach to his mail and foreward it to him.
I'll be interested to see just how long it takes for his mail to stop coming here.
