Ha, ha Al-Jizzera was hacked

It's okay for civilians to break the law then, as long as it reflects patriotism, and not dissent.

I can guarantee that a large group of people on this board will think it's okay. In fact, I bet they think it's hypocritically delicious. And while they're giggling and thinking this is the greatest thing ever, they'd also flip their wigs if someone hacked the White House page with Anti-American crap.

I thought it was funny. Sure it isn't right, but it is funny. Just like many think theonion's whitehouse.com is funny.

And bringing down a government's webpage is different than bringing down a tv channel's webpage.

heh I remember some one breaking into FBI web site hehe ... I think was some one from Phrozen Crew ... and let's not forget the infamous DOS attack launched against White house ...that was fun to watch to .... :D

It's been done already hehe ... Why is hacking not dissent?

It was a foreign target run by a hostile force. Hacking it is not breaking OUR law.

You all do know that if this was to a US-based website it would be characterized as a terrorist attack?

P.S. Al Jazeera has had some really good reporting actually. You should check out their interview with Rummy.

oh wait, I forgot I'm in the US. I obviously meant lynch dem a-rabs by the above. I'm sorry.

Actually, if you look it up, I think you will find that internet sites are recognised as legal property and because of this, is infact punishable by US law.

I cannot quote sites or URLs but i seem to remember a short time ago that a US court ruled in favour of a British or Australian website that had been hacked by US citizens.

Earn yourself some Cyberterrorism act, Cap'n Jingo.

Edit: Lynch dem a-rabs. I meant that in this post too.

US websites are hacked all the damn time, it happens frequently and when it does they bale it "hacking" not "terrorism". pfff

but it is illegal and punishable under US law.

The hacking was most likely done by the US government.

:D

hypothetical....

could that make it state approved terrorisim?

Or, Can the people who did it, be arrested and tried as criminals under criminal law?

Or if it was ordered, could the person in charge, be tried under war crimes?

As i said, these are hypothetical questions but ones i would find interesting to hash out with one of lit's legal types.

Illegal is illegal.

As far as I know, no state of war exists between the U.S. and Al Jazeera.

Somethings up with Al Jazeera's english language website again. When I go to http://english.aljazeera.net I get the fucking admin's log in page.

That can be good.

If it's being hacked again, I didn't do it. I don't have the password, lol.

Here's a great commentary about it:

(scroll down to US Pro-Free Speech? Yeah Right)

US Pro-Free Speech? Yeah Right

Here is an example of how stupid my fellow countrymen are.

Some dipshit jingoistic hacker morons took down Al-Jazeera's website in the name of "freedom". Al-Jazeera reporters have been banned from Wall St. and otherwise shunned.

Al-Jazeera is the only independent, non-government run news source based in the Middle East. They win all sorts of awards from human rights & press organizations because they do go against the governments there and report the news as is.

Isn't that the sort of freedom we're supposed to be supporting? I seem to remember something about a Free & Independent press in that anachronistic rag we call the Constitution.

So basically, we support independence and freedom, so long as those independents agree with us. Otherwise, they have no right to an opinion. Al-Jazeera, like the anti-Bush protesters, should be "shot for treason".

Words can't convey how shamed and stunned I am by the attitudes I hear all around me.

And it gets better... read this. A snippet:

Now, apparently, is the time for all good radio and TV stations to come to the aid of their country's war.

That is the message pushed by broadcast news consultants, who've been advising news and talk stations across the nation to wave the flag and downplay protest against the war.

"Get the following production pieces in the studio NOW: . . . Patriotic music that makes you cry, salute, get cold chills! Go for the emotion," advised McVay Media, a Cleveland-based consultant, in a "War Manual" memo to its station clients. ". . . Air the National Anthem at a specified time each day as long as the USA is at war."

Can you imagine if during the Impeachment, Clinton would've put the stomp down on the press? We don't even have a free & independent press here at home, so I guess I'm silly to think that we'd foster it elsewhere. (rolls eyes out of my head)
