The fact that he is president must have you about as frustrated as a one legged cat trying to bury shit on a marble floor.

ROFLMAO

Texan, be careful, you may have to explain that to him. From what I've seen today, mrbenh seems to be just a wee bit confused.

Whether you like the man or not........

This is the United States of America................... He IS the President of the United States of America!..........have some respect for the office...........if not the man!

AMERICA>>>>>>>>>>>>LOVE IT, OR LEAVE IT!!!!!!!!

I agree! Give Mr. Bush the same respect Clinton enjoyed! It's only fair! :p

The Lewinsky affair didn't "unfold". It was the result of the right wing spending millions of dollars on P.I.'s, digging into Clinton's background and finding everything they could to disparage him. They found Paula, and Monica was a result of that. Does "Arkansas Project" ring a bell for anyone, or do we all forget so soon?

Yes, Clinton fucked up. But none of this just "happened" to come into the public eye. It was the result of a comprehensive smear campaign on the part of the right - ON A SITTING PRESIDENT. They got lucky in that Clinton was a horny bastard. But tell me you wouldn't find all that and worse in GW's background.

And "Impeach Clinton, And Her Husband" bumper stickers road around on trucks long before Monica was a celeb. Don't believe me? I can go dig up some pre-Monica right-wing articles on Clinton that say nastier things than anything currently being said about GW.

So when I hear "respect the office!", I remember eight years of "A Good Clinton is a Dead Clinton" bumper stickers and I smile to myself.

Good counter punching stuff.

Keep fighting your corner...

ALL HAIL LAUREL!
ALL HAIL LAUREL!

As far as policy goes, Clinton did some good things, some very conservative things. He constantly co-opted the right's policies and showcased them as his own, but he gets credit for signing the bills, no matter who's ideas they were.

He balanced the budget along with the Gingrich's congress, and he deserves credit for that. He reformed welfare, again with a push from congress and managed to grow the economy. He deserves great credit for doing a good job with domestic policy in general.

But the man is a tragic hero, because he had it all and just couldn't stop lying, just couldn't control his desires and his ego. He thought he could get away with anything. He lied to us, and not just about sex. He could have been a great president, and it looks like now he will be regarded as only slightly above average, or good at best.

Worst of all, for the Democrats, he lost them the White house, and let the Republicans keep control of Congress and the Senate (until Jeffords, anyway).

And now we have to live with Dubbya for four long years.

LOL! Someone needs to punch me before I open threads of this nature. It's bad for my blood pressure, and it's not good for the blood pressure of whoever's about to flame me. ;)

True. Clinton was a horrendous liar. But GW himself has already lied - most notably about the White House vandalism - and no one seems to care.

It's just odd to me that the same people screaming, say, about Clinton's White House fundraising dinners have no problem when Cheney does the same thing. The same people who complained about Clinton organizing his Presidential election campaigns from the White House say nothing while Bush does the EXACT SAME THING.

I dunno. No matter how you slice it, Clinton blew it. And nothing I say is going to change anyone's mind. But I just hate the hypocrisy. 8 years of seething hatred for a sitting President, but now I'm supposed to "respect" Dumbo. Suuure....

Laurel, when I say "and now we have to live with Dubbya for four long years", that means I don't like the guy.

Lovey, I'm trying to find something to agree with you left-wing zealots about without sounding like too much of a pussy.

It's fucking hard sometimes.

God forbid I mention the fact that I voted for Reagan or anything like that.

I probably would've voted for Reagan. Of course, I was only 8 at the time, soo... :p

Ouch, stop hitting me!

I know, I'm being a whiner. I have these little fits, but they come & go pretty quickly. I'm much better now. Honest! Just watched a documentary on horror movies. It had cool interview bits with David Cronenberg & Wes Craven & Tom Savini.

Lavy, your pink balloons always cheer me up. Don't know why - they just do.

I sort of agree with PC about the respect issue.

I respected Clinton as President. But do I respect Clinton the man? Not really.

I loved Clinton before he became President. I still love the way he governed our country. However, as I watched the whole Lewinsky affair unfold, I was traumatized. I was very disappointed in him. He helped the Democratic Party immensely. But, without these shady side affairs there is no telling how strong the Democratic Party would be today.

Had Clinton done the honorable thing and resigned the backlash against the republicans would have been tremendous in 2000. But you can mention honor and Clinton in the same sentence without getting a bad taste in your mouth.

What the Fuck You talking about!

All he had to do was get to gether with Paula Jones, FUCKING APOLOGIZE, pay her off, and then it would have been a dead issue. Hell, she would have been so happy that she may have just given him the blowjob. I hear he's a real charmer when Hillary's not making him be a skunk!

LOL! A_J, you have an amazing way with words. You should have your own show. I'd watch!

You must have voted for Al Gore. Al had a very hard life. Every morning he got up before dawn and plowed the shag carpet in his Daddy's hotel room as Daddy Gore plotted his strategy to deny Blacks their civil rights.
