“Guy LaFleur was the first player in National Hockey League (NHL) history to score 50 goals in six consecutive seasons as well as 50 goals and 100 points in six consecutive seasons.”

He also once refused to date a woman until she lost weight.

She did.

He married her.

Sad, along with the 3 Islanders who passed that’s 4 major NHL’ers who we’ve lost this year. Growing up with the Sabres & the French Connection in the 70’s always looked forward to them playing Montreal. Some Epic Games.
As a sad sidebar Daryl Lamomica the “ Mad Bomber” of the Oakland Raiders died at 80 today. He got his start with the Bills... all our hero’s are checking out... we’re getting old

What a shame. Hockey Legend, indeed. As a Habs fan girl and a hockey lover in general his passing will be missed. 💙🤍🐐

Truth is LaFleur was, at the time, considered a lesser player compared to those he followed.

When Belliveau joined the Habs, everyone believed he would be better than the Rocket.

When LaFleur came along, nobody considered him as better than Belliveau.

Of course its also true that nobody could be expected to top the peak Habs lineups, which is why 5 Cups sounds weak to a Habs fan.
