((Closed thread unless otherwise stated in the future. For those DC fans, I don't want to hear complaints that we are not following the DCU story line. Blackest Night is not really a plot that works well for a romance or SRP. We have picked a point to start our story and will go from there, trying to follow what the characters would probably do if blackest night wasn't going on at the moment. Also, for anyone about to mention something about Guy Gardner, please don't. I like him and don't care whether you do or not. I don't care if you think he is a moron. As Geoff Johns says, he is not DCU's moron, he is DCU's shitkicker. So, as a recap, no comments please, unless they are positive comments and this is a closed thread))

A green streak of light rushed across the dark vastness of space. There were a lot of different lights these days. Most were very new, and in many different shades. Yet this one had seen a lot of the universe. It had been around for a long time. It was Guy Gardner of the Green Lantern Corps.

He was not on his way to the far reaches of the universe. He was not on his way to Oa. At the moment he was heading home, his true home, Earth. It was the day before Tribute Day on Earth, where fallen heroes were remembered by the living. Yet more importantly, Guy was going to go see his favorite part of the entire universe. It was not any specific plot of land. It changed all the time. Yet it was very special. It was wherever Tora Olafsdotter was standing.

Tora....Ice...the love of his life. The one girl who makes him truly feel complete. She would be there and he planned to take her out on a date while he was on Earth.

As Guy flew through the vacuum of space his ring surrounded him with energy, protecting him. He was flying casually, relaxing on his back. He wore his typical clothes. His black pants, silver belt, white gloves, and green vest embossed with the Green Lantern emblem. It was his uniform, his style. While he shot toward Earth from Oa he thought back on his past and the times he'd had with Tora.

He first remembered his time with the Justice League. That was where they had met. Ice had joined with her best friend Fire. Eventually Guy had started going out with Tora. However no one, expecially Fire, Beatriz, liked their relationship. Yet Guy loved her. She meant more to him than anyone else.

Then there was the fight with Overmaster. Guy wasn't there. He regretted it immensely. Tora had died in that fight. It had hit Guy hard. The loss had created a hole in his heart that nothing and no one could fill. He missed her very much. At her funeral he broke down and cried.

Time passed and Guy had many adventures. There were numerous times when he remembered Tora, or fought with others about it. There was once when he had attacked the JLA, blaming them for her death. He blamed that on his inability to control his Vuldarian DNA at the time. Yet he also remembered taking a trip to her home. He had fought his way in and knelt in front of a statue of her. Her mother had come and told him that Tora had loved him. She also told him that she thought of him as a son. If she hadn't died would they have been married by that time? He would never know.

Guy started to remember events mroe recently. He thought of how he had been stuck on Oa, doing jobs for the guardians for a year without shore leave. It was because of that he didn't find out about Tora coming back to life. It was not for a while that he learned of that. Once he did hear he wanted to go, but couldn't.

The next time he arrived on Earth was during the Sinestro Corps war. Only after he had helped win the day could he go find her in New York. That was the moment he had been waiting for. It had been a long time coming. He pulled her into his arms and kissed her. But her reaction had not been what he had expected. He opened his heart to her, but she said she needed time. He gave her time. He told her they would meet in a month for a first date.

They met sooner than that. He had fought along side her when there was trouble. Of course Blue Beetle was involved. The encounter had not been much though. After that he had returned to Oa to continue with his duties.

It was there that Tora had surprised him. She showed up fourteen days before their date was supposed to happen. That time had been wonderful. They spent days and many dates reconnecting. Guy loved that time with her. Then he had made his mistake. He had asked her to live with him, on Oa. When she said she didn't want to and that she belonged on Earth, it stung. It sounded as if she didn't want to be there with him. She talked about wanting to figure out her life and what she wanted to do with it. Of course she had to mention Beatriz. Fire was always involved. Always interfering. Yet he'd had to shoot his mouth off about her and Tora had been mad. In the end he had another lantern take her back home to Earth.

THat had been their last time together. There was once during halloween, but that had been so surprising and so amazing that he thought it must have been a dream. Even so, it was an amazing dream. He hoped he could have more like it. If it was real, it had been a wonderful night and it was a good sign for the future with Tora.

Now he had a chance to go home to Earth. The Guardians had ordered him there. All because he had disagreed with them about executing some of the red lanterns. He and Kyle and succeeded in only sparing a couple of lives. Then the Guardians had sent them back to Earth. Guy didn't mind though. It meant more time to possibly be with Tora. One of the last things she had said was that when they were both ready and not going to be separated by billions of miles, well, something would happen.

He neared Earth and aimed toward where he was sure Tora would be. He hoped she would be happy to see him. He was looking forward to seeing her. He flew down into New York and checked her apartment first. She was not home. He flew around, hoping to find her. When he couldn't, he landed and waited outside her apartment building. He hadn't had time to send her a message to tell her he would be there, so he hoped she didn't mind the surprise.

She walked to clear her head. There had been so much lately to get used to, there was this new chance at life, a new turn meant a new adventure, though there were so many around her that wanted to protect her from it, walk the path with her and keep her safe so no one could do her harm.

But today wasn’t exactly about her. Though they’d had a statue dedicated to her once, she’d seen it. It was as flattering as it was a grim reminder that she’d been gone from this world once. How many of their friends had been dead only to come back? Life it seemed in their ranks was as fluid as ever. Still, this day was in memorandum of those that didn’t fight or find their way home.

She was dressed plainly for the dismal day. Her white hair in her normal bob, the ends of it sticking at her ears and chin, bangs tickling the edges of her eyebrows. Blue…blue was her favorite color it showed in her uniform, though for a while now she’d been pretty partial to green. She’d worn it today to go out shopping, a sweater that bunched around her wrists, big enough to swim in, the same green as his ring, over a pair of fitted blue jeans.

The rain started falling as she neared her apartment; it seemed to fit the gray day. She held out her hand, the one that wasn’t holding onto her bags, letting the little rain drops hit her fingers and palm, turning little separate drops into snowflakes, fat ones that drifted off her hand to fall on the cement, only to melt quickly.

That was how she saw him first, through the haze of little white flakes she’d made herself. On the stoop of her building, looking impatient and yet, caught up in his own thoughts. She wasn’t usually an excitable girl, those sorts of moments were saved for Bea, she also wasn’t quick to anger, that she gave to Guy. But a smile did catch on her lips, those softly pink pillows quirked upward and her blue eyes softened.

“Guy.” Her voice was soft, but her arms did stretch out for him in the last few steps she made. It had been a long time, more than that really.

“I didn’t expect…I didn’t plan for anything.” Tora was almost speechless with pleasure.

“You didn’t tell me you were coming home.”

Guy sighed as the rain started to fall. He raised a shield of energy to keep himself dry. He leaned against a light pole waiting for Tora's return home. When he saw her down the street he smiled. She seemed busy playing with the rain drops, turning them to snow flakes. He stood up straight and stood there looking at her.

When he saw that she had noticed him he saw the smile on her face. He stopped powering the umbrella and walked toward her. Her arms were stretched out and he wrapped his arms around her. She was so surprised she could barely say anything. He chuckled and looked into her eyes happily.

"Hi Tora. The Blue Meanies sent me home. They don't like it when I disagree with them. I'll tell you about that later. I'm sorry I didn't have time to send you a message. I hope you can forgive me." With that he pulled her in closer and kissed her. He was very happy to be with her. He felt quite glad that the guardians had sent him home. He was tired of space and bailing out rookies.

It wasn’t the first time that Guy Gardner had ever pulled her close in his arms. For most of the world, Guy was ‘That Guy’, literally. People didn’t understand him, thought he was careless, crass and rude. But Tora knew him, knew him deep down and knew all the good things that he had inside of him. She believed in him, like she believed in Bea. He seemed untouchable, but she laid her head on his chest, there in the circle of his arms and he wasn’t everyone’s idea of the Green Lantern, he was hers.

Only hers.

“Of course I forgive you.” The words were muffled into his shoulder as she stood on tip-toe, finally letting the bags go, hearing them collapse behind Guy when she linked her hands tightly at his back.

She could have stayed there for days, the rain dripping down from his face and her hair, the cotton sweater she wore becoming soaked along with everything she’d just bought. It was worth it though, the last times they’d seen each other hadn’t always ended as pleasantly as they began.

“I could freeze this moment.” Tora pulled back to look up at her green eyed Lantern, and gave him a soft smile.

“But I won’t.” It was a quiet joke, she even gave a small laugh and untwined her arms to step around him, she hurryingly gathered up her bags and took his hand, leading him toward her building.

“Let’s get inside, I’m soaked.” She confessed, fishing her keys out of her purse to let them in.

It was only a few flights of stairs before they’d come to her apartment, she paused outside the door, trying to think if she’d invited him in before, to this new place anyway.

“Welcome Home, Guy. Back to Earth at least.” Tora beamed and opened the door, stepping into a clean, starkly decorated affair. Her furniture was white leather. A chair and couch with glass tables, which was where she gave her bags their final resting place, motioning for him to sit.

“Can I get you anything? A drink, or…?” She didn’t quite know what else she could offer, so she let her sentence trail off, dropping his hand.

Guy would have normally used his ring to catch the falling bags of groceries, but the fact that he was with Tora completely occupied his mind. All the good memories stuck around while all the bad ones seemed to dissapear. For him this moment was pure bliss. He didn't even notice the rain. He was very glad that she was not mad at him after what had happened on Oa.

His eyes looked down into hers. They were beautiful. He laughed softly at her joke. He let her step away to gather her thing and take him inside. It was the first time he had taken the stairs up to her apartment. He had been there before, but had flown in. He smiled at her welcome and entered her apartment. She had done a nice job with it.

As she motioned for him to sit he didn't really want to be apart from her for a moment. This was one time that he was sure he would not be interupted by Salaak or by some rookie in trouble. As she released his hand he silently stepped back and sat down on one of the sofas. As he did his ring lit up with green light. A beam of energy wrapped around her and he pulled her over to him. He grinned. "The only thing you can get for me is you here next to me. Let me handle those groceries for you. You just relax here with me."

He pulled her down onto the sofa next to him with his ring. He held her there with his arm around her. As he smiled at her he used his ring to take the bags of groceries and place them on her counter. He put the things that would go bad in the fridge and then took two cups and got them some water, all from the comfort of the sofa and her next to him. Placing the glasses down on the table near them he did something more complicated. He produced a green energy aura around their bodies that quickly dried them and their clothes. Some water evaporated but some was just taken off of them. A small stream then flowed along a track of green energy and out a window that he had opened with his ring. He grinned at Tora. "There, now isn't that a lot easier than doing it all yourself?"
