Thinking about starting a Gundam based RP.
Anyone want to join?
No idea on story yet.
Although I've been watching Gundam Double 00 lately

I've always been a fan of mecha. My basic question is what world, G gundam, Wing, seed, Classic, or a new one?

I was thinking of making a new world.
That way would could use any MS from any time line.
I'd balance them all out though.

That's actually how my thread is set up. It uses Mecha's, certainly. But it doesn't fit into the Gundam timeline.

Hm. Well, that would explain why I never saw it. I don't visit the SRP. I find that RPs based on sex or have sex laced throughout them tend to not last very long, which brings me to my next question, which is for amchentai:

Can you make this story last, like The Illusion Vale run by Wolfsister? Or will this end up joining the sadly long line of threads that could have continued through to conclusion, only to die out young?

It's hard to balance fun and balance between things so yeah customs throw that off wack even more =) Fun though.
So I guess the question is do we want it to be more fun or more realistic?

Good to hear that you plan on having a long running RP, but the question was, can you make it last? Most people when they start a RP thread, they plan on having it last, but most don't. Why? Because of a loss of interest and how the thread is run. Think about how you plan to run the thread, and then compare how you plan to run it with other threads in the ORP, both long running and not so long running, and then answer the question.

As for the custom mech, what I have in mind is fairly balanced, focusing mostly in close range combat, sorta like Sandrock from the Wing series, except with a scaled up katana instead of the sickles.

Well from what I've learned from RPing in the past. is to keep a story line, and to keep it open ended, to let players do their own thing along with the main story.
I've always run my RPs opened ended, so yeah =\ I don't know lol
And RPs die, people will get tired of it and it will die, nothing can stop that.

Trick question jedi. Amc can't make it last. I have studied every thread I've seen that reached a conclusion, several of which reached more then one conclusion. The only possible solution is steady interest and replies from several rpers. To make this last it will take at least Amc and you.

Obviously he can't answer definitively, and he did answer nonetheless. So, the point is moot at the moment.

As for the threads you've seen reach an "ending" point, I hope to see Illusion Vale on there. A spectacular story that one is, and Wolfsister has put so much thought into it. It would be a sad, sad thing if the thread were to fail.

So, Amchentai, got an ideas on the story line yet?

May I make a small suggestion. Make it a Gundam tribute thread. Let me explain not everybody watches Gundam, but who does like the concept of giant robots piloted by teens fighting aliens or whatever. Keep it open and come up with original ideas or change stuff slightly....

Well I've got some of the story worked out =D
We'll be fighting against the Devil Gundam among other units.
But yeah so far we've got some of the same factions from the show =D
Along with new forces and what not.
blends UC, AC, CE, AD, AW and all other Gundam time lines ^^

Of that list, I've only seen Wing, whichever one has Youtaro in it, and that's about it.

So, if you are allowing all Gundam's from the series, but not custom jobs that we came up with, then I call Death Sythe because it's bad ass. But if you are allowing customs that we came up with, then I just might not call Death Sythe, I'm not sure.
