I'm almost done with my first story, but I need the name of a gun that a bodyguard type guy would carry. Something slick and expensive, not too large.

Any suggestions?

A slick and expensive gun? How about a Glock 20. That is both expensive and exotic.

Something for everyone here...

Beretta M92FS (9mm Parabellum)
Colt Commander (.45 ACP)
Colt Python (.357 Magnum)

or, for the Presidential types...
Uzi
Heckler & Koch MP-5

How about something that is simple and commonly used. A Smith and Wesson .38 chiefs special with a 2 inch barrell. Carried one for years in that profession.

You boys just love talking about your 'artillery', don't you? Showing it off to the girls. I guess this must all start in the changing rooms, does it?

Hmmmmmmmmmn.

I'll have to go now. I'm feeling.... uhm.... 'sleepy'. Need to go for a 'lie down'.

My husband carries a concealed weapon. He does "little favors" for a government agency, that can afford anything. His gun is
a Glock 27, .40 calibre. It is light, 21.7 oz., small - 6.3 x 4.2 inches, holds 9 rounds, and has little metal in it. The ,40
cal was made for police agencys. It will knock a man off his feet, yet won't go through a wall like the .357. The Georgia State Police tested one by firing 10,000 rounds through it, without cleaning it. No malfunctions. Every Georgia trooper is issued
two Glocks; a Glock 22, .40 cal. that he wears, and a 27 that he has his hand on, in his pocket, when he approches a car. His clips will work in either gun. Hope this helps. Softly

And it haunted Ian Fleming to his death. That's considered a "lady's gun." I don't know a pro bodyguard who'd even consider it. It has no stopping power. I'd vote Glock, but the Beretta is probably more well-known among non-gun enthusiasts.

Whispersecret, there's a good source book (if this is likely to come up again) from Writer's Digest. The Writer's Guide to Weaponry or somesuch.

I'd advise avoiding the cannons, like the Magnums; they're just too noticeable and a bodyguard wouldn't want to advertise....

I never said it was effective, just "sexy". If it were me I'd go with a Caspian Arms customized 1911 Colt.
