I'm home! :D

Scarborouh was glorious - the last three days were like summer. The ice cream was luscious, the fish and chips sea fresh and the whole holiday was a well needed and enjoyed success.

Highlights: Playing miniture golf as a family...getting all competitve with hubby -it ended in a draw!

Eating strawberries covered in warm, melted belgian chocolate on the seafront with my daughter and gigling as we dripped it everywhere.

Riding at the front of the miniture train -my daughter going "awwww, is it done already?" as we pulled into the platform, just as I did when I was a kid.

So, what've I missed?

Welcome back, and I'm so glad you had a great time...sounds magical...

Charley -I could go on for hours. :D

Drk - It was fantastic -I'm completely knackered now *grins*

Imp! Hey love

Oh, since Charley Asked, I'll go on a bit more :D

It was so hot on Thursday I was re-applying sunlotion ever hour or so...We got on the beach and Beth played for a solid hour with two kids who were digging a big hole. No reason, just to dig. How cool is that? After the beach we got jaconelli ice creams -the best in the land. Lusciously creamy and melting white whipped ice cream with a sharp lemon sorbet swirled on top - perfect on a hot day.

We got to go on the open topped bus twice -it's so cool. It's a double decker which literally has no roof. It drives round between the two bays and it gives magnificent views over the sea and up to the castle (I'll sort the camera out for pics tommorrow) The open top bus just makes me a giddy litle girl. I love the feel of the wind whipping round me as I take in the same natural beauty I've been absorbing since I was 4. It's so reassuring to see things change yet stay the same and the simple pleasure of indulging the child in me reallty restores my soul.

Talking about the soul, this morning as we walked down the street loaded down with bags on our wat to the train home I saw an awe-inspiring sight. Coming up towards me was a massive cross carried by 6 averagely clothe people. They stood it upoutside woolworths and I was just hit, suddenly by the the reason behind Good Friday. In that moment I all but saw my Saviour hanging on that plain wooden cross and my eyes welled with tears.

I stood with the congregated church members and sang:

"Amazing Grace, How sweet the sound,
that saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost, but now I'm found,
was blind but now I see. "

and it was a poignant moment of worship, completely unexpected but completely fantastic and the perfect end to my week of relaxation...a sneak peek of the joy of Easter.

Next time you and your family go on vacation, can I tag alone?

Glad you and yours had fun.

Rumple Foreskin

Glad you had a great time EL (and that the weather stayed good ;) ). Unfortunately we won't be going there on Monday as LL has to work :( (One of the perils of working in a supermarket). I agree about Jaconelli's lemon tops, btw :D

Oh, and I heard on local radio that they're planning on extending the railway all the way round to South Bay.

Miniature Golf. One of the best things you can do on holiday. It ranks equally with Air Hockey.

The crazy thing is, if these things are so enjoyable, why do we tend to only do them on holiday? And who thought up how the world should work anyway?

Because if we did the things we love so much every day, they would lose their magic and soon become common place.

At least.......that's the theory ;) I'm yet to find that proven...after taking a year out of work and spending that year travelling, and just being......being free to do what I want, when I want hasn't lost its appeal at all....I really, really, really, had no desire to go back to working 5 days a week, except for the money I could earn. Look at how excited I got at the prospect of a 5-day weekend.

 Welcome back hon, that sounds like a lovely trip and I'm smiling just reading a little bit about it. :cathappy:

We won't make it this Bank Holiday Monday, but there are two next month after all, & I have a week off in June so we may well go for a few days then :)

I took your advice and asked my wife if we could turn our garden into a miniature golf course. :nana:

She said I can't  , and that it exists purely for flowers. She didn't even buy the idea of putting the flowers in strategic locations around and about the course. I think it would have been cool both on a cosmetic and a practical level.
