Once again, Akira found herself in the place she liked least. Between a rock and a hard place. Tonight was the night. Her and Duke had planned it out for months. And yet she got a message from him earlier that evening on her burner, "sry can't make it. good luk xx". Who still typed like that. Just thinking about it had the color rising back to Akira's cheeks. Yet there she was, wiggling her way through the ducts of the museum to get ahold of that stupid jewel.

Akira stopped once she knew she was above the room with the jewel--the Alfra-noor. Stolen from India or something. Part of some huge disagreement. She only vaguely knew the story. It wasn't of her concern anyway, she just needed to get the oversized sequin and hand it over to the Big Boss. Or he'd have her head handed to him instead. And she liked her head.

With her elbow, Akira jabbed at the panel under her once, twice, and it swung open as she athletically jumped down into the room. This wasn't a one man job, and the twenty-seven year old was trying to figure out how to compensate for her missing partner.

With the jewel in the center of the room, she began pacing around it. She couldn't just grab it, that would send the sensors off and by herself she wouldn't have enough time to outrun the security. Reaching into her pocket, she found a quarter. Her eyes going between the coin and the red sensors around her prize, trying to calculate the amount of time she could buy herself if she set them off.

As she was about to flick the coin she heard a noise behind her. "Thanks for showing up, Duke. You fucker."

He had thought this would be hard. He expected a prize like this big wig gem of whoozy-loo, or whatever the fuck they called it, would be harder to get. Instead it was like taking a field trip. Jake Stone had broken into a lot of places....that was kind of his thing, breaking into places. Banks, Penthouses, Temples, Ruins, Deathtraps, the Playboy Mansion once, but this was his first museum. The owner of this place was ome big time crime lord, the kind of guy everyone knew was a piece of shit, but nobody could prove. The perfect guy to steal from because he couldn't report it, of course it almost meant he would just kill you, but that was besides the point.

In his latest effort to look like an upstanding citizen, Henry Jameson put the fancy doodle gem on display at his museum this week only. "So the people of the city can see what a ture marvel really is." He had said. What a fucker.

Jake was gonna take it.

Breaking in was easy...actually he simply hid until the museum closed and the night shift got tired. Jake had gotten Starbucks to cater some drinks for all the guards on the night shift. Drinks laced with enough sleepy pills to put a rhino to sleep for a week. Probably wouldn't kill them....probably.

Once he was sure it had enough time to make the guards sloppy or sleeping outright, Jake simply walked into the room with the gem to deal with the security system there.

Imagine his surprise when someone stood before the gem with the exactly same idea. She didn't turn, this woman with a rocking body, instead she called him Duke, a fucker.

"Sorry I don't know any Dukes. Can you step away from my gem please? I want to propose to my girlfriend and with a rock that big she never say no." He told her.

Akira's gloved hand was on her gun, pointed at him as soon as she realized the voice didn't match Duke's. Duke who sounded like his balls hadn't dropped yet. They probably hadn't.

The top of her face was covered with a black mask--Duke's idea, he said they made them look like Batman and Robin. She was Batman off course. Dark eyes narrowed at him. Anger began bubbling up inside of her again. First, because she wouldn't even be in this situation had Duke not faked sick, and second, who the hell would just give their girlfriend this big ass jewel?

Keeping a steady gaze on him, Akira didn't move, but instead began calculating her options. She could maybe use this guy as bait while she grabbed the jewel if she was able to set off the alarms quickly enough.

"I don't think she'll be able to wear it on her hand, sweetheart."

Jake didn't even blink at the gun, he'd had guns pointed at him before....mostly from women ironically. This was nothing new to him, though this little girl thif was in over her head if she expected to just grab the jewel and run. Jameson would hunt her to the end of the Earth and murder her brutally, before she could do anything with the gem.

He was doing her a favor by taking it from her. The drama wasn't something she would want. So Jake shrugged and moved sideways until he could lean against a stone pillar, one of several around the big room.

"So what are you going to do then? Just snatch and grab? Guards will be on you in fifteen seconds if you set the alarms off. Can't have that. Gotta disable the system first." He told her. "Also stop pointing that gun at me. You ain't shooting me so put it away." He ordered.

The plan was Duke had made some fancy contraption to mirror the sensors. She had it with her, but it would be a lie to say Akira actually knew how to work it. So yes. Her plan was to grab it and run. "You'll have to wait and see about my plan."

As he called her bluff, Akira pressed down on the trigger, aiming for just above his head. Enough to graze over the top of his hair. In a swift motion, she flicked the coin at the sensors, starting the countdown in her head. As the alarms started blaring, she grabbed the gem, stuffing it in her pocket, and jumping back to the vent she had come through.

Holy shit she did it! JAke gasped as she just snagged the fucking gem off the pedestal without even bothering to disable anything. The alarms fired up instantly, and he pushed off the pillar as she darted for her exit. What kind of thief tries to escape through a fucking vent, while the alarms blare?

He caught up with her just as she dove into the vent. He grabbed her by her ankle, her momentum pulling him into the vent hard enough to smack his head into the edge and making him let her go.

"Fuck me, crazy girl!" He muttered.

Jake ran, ran through every room back towards the fire exit. Kicking open the door he was glad the guard were staggering around, trying to react to the alarm while fighting the sleeping powder he had snuck them. He made it safely to his exit and kicked open the door quickly. He never climbed stairs so fast, running all the way up to the roof, where he frantically looked around for where the girl would emerge from.

He scoffed as he actually saw her pack lying right in front of the vent she had decended to get into the damn museum into the first place. As he approached the vent, he could hear her grunted as she made her climb back up the building. He hid out of view to the side of the vent until she finally popped out of the vent.

Then he spun and grabbed her, pulling her violently out of the vent. "Are you fucking nuts?" He yelled at her, using distraction and slight of hand to slip his hand into her pocket, and stealing the gem from he pocket into his own. He shook her and shoved her away as he tried to keep her distracted. "Are you some kind of amatuer playing ina pond way too big for you? I mean setting off the alarm like that, you're lucky I was around to work my magic or those guards would have put so many bullet holes into you. Jesus fuck!"

He smacked his forehead and shook his head. "Fine you know what. You win. Get the hell out of here before we both get shot." He told her.

Just then a couple of guards burst through the roof access doorway. "HEY YOU TWO!" Guns leveled their way and Jake dove behind a pipe quickly, tucking his fist over his pocket to make sure the gem didn't fall away.

As the guards ran after him, he scrambled toward the edge of the roof and scrambled for the fire escape. He didn't look back to see how the girl escaped, or if she even did. He had what he wanted.

An hour later, Jake threw his jacket onto the bed of his hotel room and held the gem up to the light. "Hello goregeous." He said to the gem with a grin.

Him grabbing her ankle and now this was cutting into her time. She hadn't actually anticipated him chasing after her. She had calculated at least a second or two for him to recover from her initial shot.

Akira didn't take well to being man-handled, and her hand reached back into her holster, ready to actually hurt him this time. But before she had a chance to react the door burst open. Pointing her gun at the guards she began backing away, but was relieved to see the majority bolting after the man. Good riddance.

Still facing the ones pursuing her, Akira backed up to the edge of the building before turning and bolting it across the roof of the museum. She spotted the pain in her ass making his way down a fire exit, following after him. Eventually, the guards starting trailing after her instead, but a few dangerous jumps from buildings, and then finally hiding in the empty apartment her and Duke had planned out made them lose her scent.

Finally taking a deep breath, she reached into her pocket, ready to call her boss. But. She frantically began patting her pocket, all of them, but the gem wasn't there. Akira's mind quickly flashed back to being pushed around and realized she had been pick-pocketed. "Fuck!"

JAke sat on the edge of the bed, twirling the gem in his fingers. It was a beautiful gem to be fair and it explained why he had been offered the money he had actually been offered for it. It had been easy, despite the little hiccup. Now all he had to do was make a phone call and head to the drop point.

As he looked at the gem he started to get lost in the reflection. The gem seemed to glow in the light. It took Jake a moment to realize that the gem wasn't just reflecting light, instead it was emitting light! The gem began to glow blue, lightly at first, but as he stared at it, the light got brighter and brighter. Suddenly he began to see an image in the gem.

Jake jerked back and looked around. What the fuck was happening? The image became sharper and sharper until he realized that he was looking at that other thief. That girl that had tried to ruin his mission. He could see her running across rooftops, trying to get back to where ever the hell she came from.

Then the gem burst with light. A beam of light shot into Jake, while a second beam shot out of the window. Jake felt his body grow incredibly warm and he saw visions of her. The nameless thief.

Little did he know, that the second beam of light was hunting out Akira. As he jerked away from the gem, dropping it to the floor, the second beam of light was hunting out Akira to imprint him into her mind, just she as was now imprinted into his.

Tossing her mask aside, Akira began to run her hands through her hair, pacing back and forth in the room. She couldn't go back to the boss like this. But she hadn't kept track of where that fucker went. She could call Duke and get him to use his computer shit to track this guy. But that meant telling Duke. That was risky. He must have some planned hiding space too like she did. But where?

Just as she was about to flop down on the couch a bright blue light shot into the room. Akira braced to duck for cover before her vision was blurred by an image of the man she was looking for. Thinking she was hallucinating, she began to press her hands against her skull, trying to come back to reality. He was...at the Four Seasons?

Just as she was getting back up to try and shake the idea, the image disappeared. Blinking, she looked around, dazed. What had just happened? Was this what people meant when they said following their gut? It wasn't like she had any other leads..

Akira had quickly changed out of her cat burglar gear into jeans, a white t-shirt and a leather jacket. Finding out where this guy was...or if he was even at the hotel meant flirting with the bell hop. But sure enough, he babbled about someone fitting her targets image. It was probably a coincidence, but it was still worth a shot.

Stepping out of the elevator, Akira knocked on the door of the suite she had been directed at. As she knocked she stepped to the side, hand once again placed on her holster.

Jake needed to sleep. He laid himself down on the bed and simply held his arm over his eyes, his head hurt and he kept getting flashes of that girl. Suddenly he saw an image of her in the lobby. He jerked up and panicked. She was here! He grabbed the gem and buried it into his luggage as quickly as he could, yet he could see her coming for him.

He saw her get to the door and knock, it was her! She was here! Everything he saw in his head was real. He saw her lean to the side of the door, grabbing for her gun. What the hell happened? Could she see him like he could see her?

He looked around for some way to deal with her. Someway to not get himself shot. He figured that she would see anything he did so he went to the door and jerked it open quickly, jumping back and putting his hands up.

"Now I know what you're thinking." He said. "How is this guy so handsome that I would track him though the entire city, just to see him again. But more importantly. Is he single?" He smirked, "Yes I am."

It occured to Jake that this woman was amazingly beautiful. Her skin was flawless, and her tone gave her an exotic look. Her body fit and lean, perfect for stealing shit as it turned out. He was surprised by how much he found her attractive, even to the point that it made his balls tingle. Which was a little weird considering the gun pointed at him.

Again, she was getting weird pictures. Akira shut her eyes for a second, trying to shake the image of him scrambling around the room, shoving the gem into his luggage with boxers. What was going on? That was such a rookie move. Was she some sort of psychic? Was she That's-So-Ravening?

As the door swung open, Akira, for the second time that day pointed her gun at him. "I would rather ride Queen Elizabeth's dick." She rolled her eyes, starting to scope out the suite around him. She wasn't sure if what she said was true, as she had begun to realize in better lighting he wasn't that bad looking.

Still keeping her gun pointed at him she stepped closer, trying to get him to back up more. "Where is it?"

Jake shrugged and looked at her. "I wonder if the Queen knows this news." He told her, shaking his head. He knew something had happened, something the gem had done to them. He didn't know why, but he needed to know if it happened to her in the same way.

"Where is it?" She asked him.

Jake again shrugged, "Guess." He told her, wondering if she would go straight for where he had hidden it, because she had seen him do it. If she did, what would that mean. Why could they see each other, and why did she look so sexy when she was angry? That wasn't fair.

Did he really need to be this annoying? Akira sighed, and quirked a brow towards his suitcase. Was worth a shot, right? "Beside your panties." She continued keeping aim, moving so she was beside his luggage. "Open it up and show me."

The weird images had stopped. It must have been over exertion. Yet...how had they been so accurate?

Jake eyed her and shook his head, "Sorry, I'm not moving until you stop pointing that gun at me." He told her. "You wanna see the panties, you're gonna have to pull your pants down." He backed up a little so that as she got closer, she couldn't stick the gun against him.

"What's your name by the way? I just want to know what I have to put on your tombstone." He asked.

And there he went again, with a smart ass comment. Akira pressed down on the trigger again, aiming for his arm, but her vision blanked just as she was about to shoot. Instead, the bullet hit the wall next to him. Akira never missed. She was tired, she was acting weird. "That was a warning shot," her voice remained steady, though this was a complete lie. "Try to be smart again and I'll aim for the head."

She ignored his request for her name, instead, kicking down the suitcase. "Open up the fucking bag."

Jake flinched to the side as the fired at him. "FUCK!" He cried, ducking to the side. HE looked at her like she was out of her goddamn mind. Then she kicked over his suitcase and caused the contents to spill to the floor. "Aww you broke it." He moaned, kneeling and pushed the stuff aside to grab the gem.

HE stood slowly and held up the gem. "Here it is. You hap..." He couldn't finish the statement. The gem exploded in his hands. The gem burst into blue light like a small star floating between them. Slowly tenticles of light spread out towards them. One suddenly darted straight toward Jake, and another went right toward her.

The beam of light linked them together, chest to chest. Jake felt his body grow hot, as he looked toward her in shock. He felt himself looked at this woman and feeling for her....what he didn't know...but something.

When the light suddenly vanished, the gem fell to the floor, but instead of blue, it was completely dull and black. Jake looked down, then looked up at her. "The fuck is that thing?"

Akira had held out a hand for him to toss her the Alfra-noor when light filled the room. Instantly, both her hands grabbed at her gun for security. Dark eyes followed the trail of blue light connecting them. She could feel her face flush, and for some reason she didn't feel like she needed to have a weapon for defense. This was new. As the light disappeared, her mouth dropped in shock at the useless rock on the ground.

"Is this a joke?" She took a step towards it, touching the rock with her foot, gun, as always still directed at him. "Where's the real thing? What kind of stupid con artist are you."

Jake scoffed at her, looking at her acusations like she was out of her mind. "What am I a fucking wizard now?" He yelled, "I didn't do that. I didn't do anything. Maybe you broke it when you just jerked it off the goddamn pedestal." He told her, and then his hand lashed out and smacked the gun from her hand, "STOP POINTING THAT SHIT AT ME!" He roared.

Fuck she was pretty, she really was stunning. He wanted her so badly and so suddenly his body shook and he didn't understand it.

He jerked away from her and stomped to his stuff, picking it up and throwing it back onto the bed so he could repack his suitcase. "What the fuck am I supposed to do now? The gem is fucked, and if I don't bring it do my buyer...I am fucked. I owe so much money my teeth hurt." He huffed.

He looked at her, "So what? What are you going to do now? Huh? Gonna keep threatening me? Or you going to try and sell a dud of a gem?" He asked angrilly.

He was insane. And she was not happy with this acting. This was some new elaborate technology. Some brand new scheme. She admitted, he was good at this, but she didn't have time for another thief's antics. She had to get this job done and delivered, she was on a ticking clock.

She gritted her teeth when he knocked her gun out of her hand. There was another pistol in her jeans, but she didn't feel the need to pull it out. Instead as he turned to ask her for her plans, Akira stomped over and punched him in the cheek with as much force as she could muster. "I'm going to stand here until you god damn tell me where it is." Twisting her wrist she hiked up her jacket sleeve, "Do you need another one to jog your memory?"

Jake grunted violently and staggered onto his ass with the force of her fist across his face. He hadn't expected her to hit him like that, closed fist, and damn it hurt so bad. He sat there for a second while she yelled at him, trying to figure out how he had ended up on his ass on the floor. He glared up at her, rolling up her sleeve as she got ready to punch him in the face again.

"That was it!" He shouted. "Fucking Bitch! Don't hit me! You want the gem there it is, black and dull now. I don't know what happened but you saw it just as much as I did. So what the fuck?" He rolled onto his hands and knees and started to get up. "Christ, who the fuck are you? You hit like my step dad."

Maybe...he didn't have it. Akira took a step back, staring at the gem and then him. "I don't want to hear about your daddy issues." She bent over and picked up the dull rock, feeling it's texture with her hands. What was she supposed to do now? She held it out to him, "Turn it back to normal and we can trade names." Akira had a feeling he was just as confused about this as she was, but desperation was starting to creep up in her voice. She was going to die.

Jake looked at her in awe. She was stunningly beautiful but she also seemed scared. She had a lot riding on this gem too it seemed and panic was causing her to get very violent toward him. She thrust the gem toward him and demanded he turn it back to normal.

Jake sighed and took the gem. He stared at it and turned it around in his hands. He tapped on the sides a couple of times. Then started juggling it. After he caught it a few times he shrugge, "Welp, I'm out of ideas." He sighed and sat on the edge of his bed.

He looked at her and suddenly flashes shot through his mind. He saw men getting off the elevator on this floor. They were armed and looking very very deadly. Jake jumped to his feet and reached out to press a finger to her lips. "Shh! You got an extra gun by chance?" He asked her, slipping past and gently shutting the door. "They are coming. We gotta get the fuck outta this room." He warned.

"That was helpful, thanks." Akira grabbed the gem from him and shoved it into her jacket pocket. What was going on? Not that she had an extensive history stealing jewels, but this didn't seem like a normal occurrence.

Akira slapped his hand away as soon as it made contact with her, partially because she hated being touched, partially because it sent a strange warm jolt through her body. Keeping her mouth shut she watched him shut the door, deciding to trust him at that moment. Whoever was after him might kill her as well. She nodded, a hand slipping into her belt loop to pull out the pistol. "You?"

Hand on the gun she now pointed it towards the door, "If it's The Admiral's men, I think I could take them."

Jake looked at her flabbergasted. "I no don....that's why I fucking ask if you had an ext...fuck!" He stormed over to where he had smacked away her first gun. He picked it up and tucked it into his waistband. "Take them? With a pea shooter. They have automatic weapons!"

There was a loud knock on the door followed by a loud voice shouting "Housekeeping!"

Jake point at the woman, "You want a towel? No?" He turned towards the door. "We're fine thanks. We are busy doing sex. Can you please go away?"

The sound of big guns cock in could be heard.

"Some people don't know jokes. Okay plan B." He reached over and grabbed her, pulling her out to the balcony as the roar of a shut gun tore into the hotel door, splattering the walls where they had been standing.

He pushed her toward the ledge. "Jump over to the next one. Go one over then jump down the the lower floor." He instructed.

The gun he had picked up had two bullets remaining, but she didn't feel like mentioning it to him. Especially after he seemed to go out of his way to make her sound stupid. Akira wasn't quick on her feet, she was more the type that went well with instructions, and it was something she had always been conscious about.

She had braced herself to go for head shots when his hand grabbed her, pulling her to the balcony. Before he had finished his instructions, Akira was hopping down one balcony onto the next. It was on the third balcony that she encountered a couple screaming at her intruding on a private moment. Pausing, she looked over the balcony to see more of the crime lord's men waiting at the bottom. "Where's your plan C?" she screamed up at him.
