Lorenzo Agnello had taken over the business world. In his younger years he would buy business that were going bankrupt and turn them around and made fortune. During one of these meetings at a companies family parties, he noticed a picture of a young lady. Too everyone disbelief, he demanded offered a marriage proposal to this young woman that caught his eyes.

Lorenzo found the name if the young lady, Elena Carnicelli, she was age of marriage. He was pleased to have found out that she went to a private girl school taught by nuns. She appeared to never had even date to known any experience out of a sheltered life which promised a nice traditional wife. He decided to make a date with her to break the ice before the wedding, meeting at a cafe that stood before his work office.

He noticed her arrival as she wore a yellow, summer dress and only 4'11 . Her long raven hair in a pony tail as she looked quite anxious as she was guided to his table. She gulped as she replied quietly: " ....I...I....am ....Elena Carnicelli "

Lorenzo waited for the girl to arrive. He was nervous. Meeting someone new always was. However, she'd never know it.

There was an age difference. Not vast, but enough. He'd seen her in a graduation photo in a friend's home. The other two he knew, but he'd never seen the third before.

"Oh, that's Lena Carnicelli," was the answer when he inquired. "Gino Carnicell's daughter. You know, the candy guy."

The girl was just out of college. Without thinking, he said, "I want to marry that woman."

Instant laughter. "Funny, Renzo. She's almost half your age. And you don't even know her. She might just hate your guts."

He was adamant.

So, he'd contacted her father. Explained his intentions. Lorenzo's reputation preceded him, so her father consented to the meeting.

When she arrived, he was surprised. She was quite short. At 6'2" he'd tower over her, but that wasn't a concern. She was well-formed, with dark, dark hair pulled back.

When she introduced herself, he stood and held out his hand. She followed him all the way up, eyes wide. Finally she recovered and took his hand. Hers disappeared into his, but they shook and finally sat.

She was a nice girl. He was sure she'd open up more once she was used to him. Now, though, he was a stranger. A stranger who wanted to marry her. He could tell she was extremely intimidated by him and the situation.

"You know why you're here?" Renzo asked.

Elena nodded.

"You can't speak? Please, let me hear your voice."

"Yes, sir," she responded quietly.

"Come now, volume up to at least seven."

"Yes, sir," she repeated, more strongly, but less confident.

"That's better." He reached over and placed a finger under her chin and raised her eyes to meet his. "There we go. You have gorgeous eyes. Don't deny them from me."

Elena smiled slightly, brightened a little by the compliment, but still extremely nervous.

Elena wasn't sure how she could find him both attractive and terrifying at the same time. She never been on a date and it felt odd. A shiver ran down her spring as he lift her chin as he spoke to her. No man ever spoke to her in such a fashion. She nervously step back as she realized people were staring at them. She nervously looked around and back at him:" ummm..perhaps..best...we ...sit?"

Renzo motioned to a table, stepping over to pull a chair out for the hesitant young woman.

As she sat, he motioned the waiter and ordered a bottle of wine.

When he sat across from her, he told her, in not unfriendly tones, "What did I tell you about denying me those pretty eyes?"

Elena looked at him:" I don't drink" *hesitated* " I'm sorry..I'm nervous..."* Gulps as she ran her nervous hands over her dress*

Renzo found her shyness chamring.

"No need to be nervous. I'm not going to bite... Well, at least, not until we get to know one another better." He smiled at his joke, but she didn't seem to find it funny.

When the bottle came, he told the waiter, "Get the lady something sparkling and non-alcoholic, if you would, plase."

He took her hands in his. They were ice cold.

"You're safe here. You're safe with me. I know this is probably way out of your element, but don't be afraid." He spoke softly and as soothingly as he could. It seemed like with every word, however, she shrank just a little bit more.

Elena raised an eyebrow at his bite joke, she wasn't fully sure what it meant but it sounded dirty.
She gulped as he took her hand and wasn't sure what to do. She slowly try pull her hand away from his as she felt all eyes were on her...

Renzo felt Elena try to pull her hads out of his. He let them go. She looked like a rabbit trapped by a fox.

Their drinks came. He wasn't sure what hers was, but it had bubbles.

"What are you afraid of? Please, talk to me. What can I do to make you more comfortable?"

Elena sipped her drink and smiled before looking at him;" I'm just nervous around new people, please don't take offence"

Renzo nodded his understanding.

"I see. Well, while I always enjoy meeting new people - especially ones as pretty and charming as you - I suppose I can understand being guarded when meeting someone new."

He took her hand once more. "I hope I won't be new for long."

During this time, neither had looked at a menu. However, now, ne picked his up and gave it a glance.

"I hope it isn't too stereotypical, meeting at an Italian place like this, but they have excellent food here. I can personally vouch for the manicotti and braciola."

Elena decided best to let him hold her hand as she did want to start a fight. She looked up at me:" do you mind choosing for both of us?" * Smile*
She began to wonder how to get out of this situation without causing a scene in public. She quickly learn that he was a man that expected obedience especially from his woman. She didn't understand why he or even how he convinced her dad for this marriage to happen. She found herself anxious of such a large role, a wife...not any wife...Lorenzo Agnello's wife.

She took another sip of her drink as her mouth felt dry in his presence: " I dont want to waste to much of your time....i am sure, you have more pressing matter than waste your precious time with me" *Giving him a nervous smile*

Lorenzo ordered both the manicotti and braciola when the waiter came by.

"Why would it be a waste of time to spend it with you? Are you that dull a girl? I have a hard time believing that."

Elena smiled nervously at him as he ordered their meal: " I...I...just ummm.adventurous as most women are ,now a days. I am what people call boring "

She looked up at him with a nervous smile:" I don't know , how to be a wife"

Renzo smiled back.

"I don't find you boring. I'll bet there's plenty you have going for you. Do you read? Do you go to movies? Do you watch the stars at night? Do you stop everything to look at a rainbow?"

To her other comment, he told her, "I'm not sure how to be a husband, either. It wsill be an adventure for us both."

Elena hated to admit it but he did seem like a good man. She started wonder if she was being over dramatic about the situation. The more he spoke. She like him. Sure he was older but he was very respectful.

She began to relax and smiled Elena blinked at his compliment;" I do like paranormal romance book..I like movies too.. at times, I like sewing and stuff..."

She gulped:" I thought we could push our marriage back a few years....that way you can have some freedom as aam"

She was relaxing a little and opening up. That was good. Up until a minute ago, he'd been expecting her to get up.and dash out the door.

"A couple years? He gasped, "I was thinking more like tomorrow!"

He meant it as a joke, but the horror on her face told him she hadn't taken it as one. Now, she really did look like she might bolt.

Laying a hand over hers, he smiled and said, more gently:

"Relax. There are no set plans for a wedding yet. I thought getting to know one another might be a good idea. What do you think?"

Elena froze as he mention tomorrow, panic filled her mind. Marriage meant she officially be his woman. Not mention. They need to consume the vows. She looked down at his hand a moment noticing how big it was compare to hers.

She looked up :" oh! Phew...well thank God, you scared me....I need time... A few years should confirm if we know eachother enough, right?"

"Who knows how long? We'll just let things happen organically, okay? I'd rather get to know you better, too. It'd be horrible to go all the way to marriage only to find out you snore like a chainsaw or have a weird toe that refuses to get in line with the rest."

He hoped she realized he was joking. He was trying to keep the mood light, so she would relax.

When the food arrived, he realized just how hungry he was.

Serving Elena some of everything, he told her, "It's all excellent. You need to try it all."

Elena burst laughing as he teased her, she quickly covered her mouth:" I'm sorry...but...your a funny one. I guess, we can take our time to know one another. It's only fair after all you need be sure before you refuse to marry me, hehehe"

Though the situation was odd. He still was a pleasant person and she started like him:" I am okay, trying to get to know you"

As much as she had prepare to decline and run away...it kinda took a back seat. He might be older but he was quite handsome and kind. He could be intimidating yet seem like good man.

She smiled as he served her plate:" thank you"* she waited for him to serve and tasted" mmmmmhhhmmmmm
