OK guys, there is a bus full of old people, we'll just stick it up and make some easy money. Nothing can go wrong, . . . go wrong, . . . go wrong!

EX-MARINE, 70, KILLS TOUR THUG

February 23, 2007 -- A retired 70-year-old Marine killed a mugger with his bare hands after a tour bus of U.S. senior citizens was held up in the Costa Rican city of Limon, authorities said yesterday.

The retiree squeezed the 20-year-old mugger in a headlock, broke his clavicle and choked him, police said.

The thief's two accomplices, who were armed, fled as other retirees on the bus started defending themselves. The group then drove the unconscious mugger to a local Red Cross clinic, where he was declared dead.

Local police named the former Marine as Allan Clady, but could not say where in the United States he resides.

The 12 tourists involved in the incident on Wednesday were on a stopover from the Carnival Cruise ship Liberty.

Local Police Chief Luis Hernandez said no one would be charged in the incident.

"They were in their right to defend themselves," he said.

I've said it before, I'm all for people defending themselves when confronted. I don't care if the guy is purse snatching or trying to abduct someone, if he dies, I couldn't care less. It should be in our laws that anyone committing a crime is at his/her own risk. This crap about only when deadly force is necessary is ridiculous, how does someone in the midst of being victimized know what the attacker is thinking? I think we should put the Marine on the payroll and let him defend seniors everywhere. We've got Dan Quayle and Al Gore on the payroll for life, but not this guy? There is no justice.

Obviously, Homeland Security will call this another instance of their good work on the "War on Terror". Somehow or othr, these muggers will be tied to Al Quida.

The only things that I find amazing about this are that it was released to the press and that there isn't a lawyer stepping forward to sue the Ex-Marine on behalf of the deceaseds family yet.

Most of the countries of latin America have legal systems based upion the Napoleonic Code and not upon the US system. The idea that acts that are admitted by the authorities to be criminal are not allowed to be compensated because the victims attempted to defend themselves or because it is the fault of society that the criminals went bad.
