Oh gosh years ago in one of the Dangerous Visions anthologies was a short story. A play on the Infinite Earths idea - blah blah blah... the core idea was an agent went to an earth where things looked really normal but... wow. The barns were - tidy. Well kept. Very neat. Suspiciously... clean.

So I'm thinking - what the heck. Greene’s Non-GMO Organic Certified Hucow Dairy cause since the Global Clean Air Act of (insert date) mandated all the methane farting cows got turned into one hella barbeque and... oops. Damn. Milk. Hmmmm.... Human critters are inventive as things change. And of course marketing pressures mean that your typical big box store has milk - with FDA/Dept of Ag(human) allowed traces of hormones and chemicals to start and keep the lactation cycle going.

But there are niche farms - certified to be wholly organic, non hormonal where for a premium one can enjoy milk as it was intended. But of course how the Greene's get their stock, and maintain their herd? There's gold in there - uhm.... hills.

That is a lot to take in. I'm now thinking of Mad Max: Fury road, where in one scene we see the bad guy rush passed many women with dead babies that are being milked. Instead of some background scene, a full novel/movie about that.
