Greatest Rock and Roll guitarist ever?

Well, obviously........

Jimi Page (in the day)
Ted Nugent plays a good guitar....

But the all time best guitar player (all around) is......

Chet Atkins.

Hendrick (sp?) When he did the Nation Anthem at Woodstock, not that I was there.

(Yes, I know this more than one. There's more, still)

Jimi Hendrix
The Edge
Jimmy Page

I nominate the following

Nuno Bettencourt
Brian May
John Petrucci (sp)
Zakk Wylde
And
Eric Clapton

Understatement?

Saying Nugent played a good guitar is like saying the Grand Canyon is a dip in the road....

But let's be real....the real reason millions of pimply faced nerds picked up a guitar in the eighties would be none other than Valerie's artificial hip sportin Dutchman...

Eddie Van Halen....

I like Nuno too..and Adrian Smith/Dave Murray

Johnny Ramone understood Rock n Roll like no other..so what if his skills were rudimentary..

Technical players are boring...You can keep the Yngwies of the world...

Stevie Ray Vaughn....

And that's all I got to say on that...

T. Bone Walker

did most things those guys did, but made it sound matter-of-fact, like anyone could do it. He makes many R&R guitarists look like they are working too hard at their passion.

The Dinosaur Vote

I know he was dead before most of you were born, but -- Duane Allman!

Very good!
What about Edgar Winter & his bro?
Worked that gig several times with Leon Redbone!
Gawd what a fun time!

Too broad a question but I'll add a few of my personal faves.

George Harrison
Angus Young
Chuck Berry
Kim Thayil
Jeff Beck
Jim Mcguinn
Jerry Garcia

All of these guys were great but I would humbly submit Harrison(Or Lennon) as the greatest Rock guitarist of all time.
