Great Pics, Great Books (Transgendered Bdsm Issues)

sarahreichman:
"This fellow Angelo Victor Mercure is a superlative artist and really seems to have a feel for the transgendered bdsm lifestyle."

I disagree with both of these statements. His photographs seem forced and staid without the highly ritualistic/obsessive feel that an actual fetishist might bring. He seems to just pose his models instead of working with them and his photos are just set pieces of 'erotic' scenes he's thought up. (I doubt he understands what eros actually is)

There's very little warmth, humor, passion, or self-expression in the work. The only artistic technique he uses is photographing in black and white.

And no, I don't see that he has a feel for the transgendered BDSM lifestyle. He took a group of transgendered models (possibly hookers) in Thailand and covered them in BDSM paraphernalia. That has nothing to do with *their* life save as a reminder that their sexuality is a commodity for white guys with American money.

Oh, and welcome to the board.

I've seen one of his gallery shows.

His work is trite, poorly staged and repetitive in nature. It is not representative of any of my experiences as a transgendered person. It may be representative of the shemale-for-hire/tranny pro lifestyle but as I have never experienced that lifestyle for myself, I couldn't say if it is or isn't. I'm sure a certain audience are drooling over his work, but they're not likely to buy his prints. Not when they can take their $800.00 per print and apply it to locating one of these "models" and get it in the flesh, as it were.

Angelo Victor Mercure Is A Genius

Angelo Victor Mercure is GOD.
Well, at least god with a small "g".
Who is this imbecilic, obnoxious nobody named "Never"?
WHO THE HELL CARES???
Who is "gargouille", the pathetic, inarticulate humanoid who wore blinders at the wonderful gallery show she attended?
Take off the blinders, babe (although such devices probably improve your appearance!).
However, wearing blinders and spouting nonsense won't make you any smarter.
Apparently, these losers are hopeless.
Neither of these mongoloidal knuckleheads are fit to walk in Angelo Victor Mercure's shadow.

Big Minds and Little Minds

Angelo Victor Mercure a genius?
Angelo Victor Mercure a god?
Hmmmm.
Well, I don't know about all THAT.......
However, I can say that I met the man on two separate occasions (once at his LA opening and the other time at his Manhattan show) and I found him to be not only extremely talented but charming, courteous, polite, and even a bit modest (and, trust me, he has no need to be modest).
His work has always impressed me as raw, harsh, cutting-edge, and frightfully innovative.
$800. is a lot to ask for one of his prints?
I certainly don't think so.
Nan Goldin's and Diane Arbus' prints fetch far more and neither of them has documented the intriguing world of transsexuality nearly as well as Angelo Victor Mercure.
They don't even come close to his keen insights, artistic splendor, and visual acuity.
I purchased one of Mercure's twenty-print portfolios for $7,600. and it is one of my most treasured possessions.
Read the commentaries and guestbook sections of his sites (yes, he has TWO sites):

Angelo Victor Mercure is also the author of critically-acclaimed books of prose:
NIGHT OF THE DRAGON
BLUE TIGER/YELLOW FANG
Charles C. Kim (award-winning screenplay writer of Singapore, an associate of famed director Ang Lee) has penned an incredible filmscript of NIGHT OF THE DRAGON and it is currently a hot topic of discussion in Tinseltown.

Gerald, you are going about it all wrong when you let small-minded people like Never and gargouille provoke you. Instead of replying in kind to them, here is a quote that you should have utilized:
(Yes, Never and gargouille, THIS is meant for each of you):

"Shabby little souls. Wretched, poisonous crew. True philistines of art. True enemies of the artist's living spirit. True defilers and betrayers of creation. Impotent, fumbling little half-men and half-women of the arts whose rootless, earthless, sunless lives have grown underneath a barrel and who bitterly nurse their fancied injuries, the swollen image of their misguided worth. They
hiss and sting in all the impotent varieties of their small envenomed hate. They deal the stealthy traitor's blow in darkness at the work and talent of those far better than they."
