My ex swears to Leonard Cohen live.

What do you listen to to put you 'into the arms of unconciousness'?

If I were to listen to anything soothing, it would be "Enya." I remember eating lunch well listening to them, and I had to have my Mom shut it off, or my face would be in Peanut butter and Jelly. I like enya, though.

I can't listen to anything with English lyrics or else I concentrate to much on them and can't fall asleep. Ditto for anything with an engaging melody, a lively tempo, or lots of changes in dynamics. Good sleeping music should be relatively soft and soothing.

Brian Eno's Music for Airports is great because it's the only music I've encountered that can either hold my attention or become sonic furniture depending on my attention. I've spent many a night with it on loop while studying in college and med school. It's also wonderful to sleep to. This post is making me sle...zzzzzz

Listening to Orbital while I'm high usually puts me into some sort of walking sleep.

Does that count?

Vivaldi's Four Seasons

By the time it gets to Summer it usually leaves me behind in Spring...

:D

Yawn ...

... anything classical would put me to sleep ... i'm not much of a classical music buff i'm afraid ...

sooooooo the last place you'd want to take me on a date is to a symphony or classical concert or opera ... sorry ... it is such a big snooze city for moi ...

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Hush little baby
don't say a word
Papa's gonna buy you a mocking bird.
If that mocking bird don't sing
Papa's gonna buy you a diamond ring.
If that diamond ring turns to brass
Papa's gonna buy you a looking glass.
If that looking glass gets broke
Papa's gonna buy you a billy goat.
If that billy goat gets bony
Papa's gonna buy you a shetland pony.
And if that shetland pony runs away
Papa's gonna buy you another some day.

I have a CD called Classical Daydreams that I used one day during rest time with my class. I was falling asleep and the kids were getting mellow. It's wonderfully soothing and relaxing.

I had a tape of musicboxes playing lullabies. That was wonderful to fall asleep to.

I like listening to jazz of chillout house....at the moment I prefer Miles Davis' Kind of Blue CD.

Usually some good classic rock does the trick, or on occasion Art Bell helps me along.

But lately, I've been on this classical kick. I was listening to it on sunday morning, and heard the most beautiful trio. A violen, chello, and piano. Absolutely beautiful music..........

To Sleep...perchance to dream....

I enjoy listening to musical scores, that is, the music from the soundtrack of a movie. Movies like "Batman" and "The Specialist" had 2 albums available. One was the music you heard, and the other was the background instrumentals from the movie which always added mood.

But to narrow it down would be a little tough, but I'll try:

Carlito's Way - Brian Doyle
The Professional - Eric Serra
The Red Violin - (this one too)
Romeo Is Bleeding - Mark Isham

Hoping you'll find something in your dreams.

Always,

Julian
