My grad is on saturday. Will it suck as much as I'm sure it will suck? Have they always been terrible throughout history or were grads 20 years ago not vomit inducing?

Although it was years ago (1986), i had a great time on my high school graduation day. i was so happy & proud to 'start the rest of my life'.

The only time i felt like possibly puking was... afterwards. i had a huge pool party as a celebration. i was allowed a 'few' beers, and was able to sneek down a few more than that. Too much alcohol (more than 3 beers or glasses of wine, or more than two mixed drinks) in any form still makes me feel pukish though. Now the 10 year reunion .... THAT was something to puke about. i'm skipping any future reunions, if i have anything to say about it.

Awww, I'm a straight edge kid so I'm not all too worried about throwing up... I just really hate my school haha, grad seems like such a waste of time, the only thing I can think of that would make it worth it was if I brought a pin to pop any balloons that touch me but I think that would probably be mean.

There are lots of ways to have fun at a grad ceremony... if you are not afraid to show a sense of humor (not like they can expell you, or send you to detention hall though by then..). A kid i graduated with had black felt letters on the back of his white boxer shorts.. flipped the back of his gown up over them while exiting the stage after grabbing his diploma. His shorts said something like, "This was not worth the tax $$ my parents paid". Some kids glued kewl stuff on top of their grad caps ...happy meal toys, whirly-pinweel-thingies, etc ect.

I didn't graduate from my high school (anyone in my family who attended that school - which has been 3 - have not graduated) so I never got to go to grad. I got my dioploma at Centre High and there is no grad there. )

My High School years (O'Neill Collegiate represent!) were the best years of my life. Trust me, school beats having to work for a living, any day of the week.

You scare me. High School should not be the best years of your life. Granted bills and taxes suck but I would take all my adult troubles times 10 to avoid ever having to returning to that horrid place.

Canadiancutie, Grad doesn't have to suck...just remember it means you NEVER have to go back! It's also usually a good chance to get a chuckle at the expense of all the speakers. If you could get your class to go for it you could always annoy the hell out of the Princepal as well. When my class graduated some of the guys passed out marbles and we all dumped them into the Princepals hand when he shook ours. It was funny watching it dawn on his face that he was going to be handed nearly 500 marbles and watching him try to figure out what to do with them.

The fact that high school is the best years of some peoples' lives always scares me. I hated it and if it had taken any longer than it did I would not have been able to bear it. By the end I was holding on by a thread.

But then I dropped out and went back and got messed up and the whole thing took 9 years.

Depending on how you think about your grad can influence the way you feel.
