This is a Pokemon inspired story set in a slightly altered version of that universe. In it all Pokemon are able to speak, and are more human like while still being wild creatures. Battles are still fought, Beauty contests are still competed in and yes the world tournament is still sought after.

Troy was finally going to set out on his adventure. He was supposed to have started four years ago when he was fourteen, but things had kept getting in the way. First his dad had gotten into that car accident and he had taken over the running of the farm for a while.

Then when he had turned sixteen his mother had fallen gravely ill and once again he had postponed his journey to help look after her, run the farm and get a job to help pay for her medicine.

Now he was eighteen and quite frankly he didn't care if a hurricane came and destroyed the family farm, he was going. He had his fathers old Pokeballs, but unfortunately no Pokemon to go in them. He had used the few he had caught to help him on the farm and now he needed to leave them there to help out his parents while he was away.

He wasn't worried though. He had four extra years of training and was pretty good at catching Pokemon, even without a Pokemon of his own. He had an uncanny knack of knowing exactly when to throw a Pokeball to capture one.He was also good at feeding and healing them due to his time working with them on his parents farm. He had come to learn what the various types liked to eat, and how best to treat them over the years.

He was headed towards Celadon city to get his first Pokemon from a friend of his dad's. He had agreed to hand over a new Eevee that he had captured and trained for a little while. It was not yet ready to be evolved but it did know a few moves and would suit him fine. Like him it was starting it's training late and was already nineteen and had a lot of catching up to do. That is why he thought they would make a good match.

It was going to take him several days to travel there but there was a nice clearing where he could camp along the way and no rogue Pokemon had been reported in the area. He packed his backpack and with his fathers old Pokedex that had been updated with all the new software he said goodbye to his parents and finally set off.

His first day of traveling was pretty uneventful. He saw a few wild Pokemon, but they were all to healthy for him to capture so he didn't even bother trying. He just enjoyed the walk and that he was finally on his way. It looked like he might have to wait until he had his Eevee after all before he could capture anything. As night started to fall he saw the clearing ahead and he increased his pace. He wanted to be able to set up his tent and start a fire before the sun went down.

At that moment Luca, a wild female Lucario, the evolved form of Riolu, had burst into the clearing, panting and holding her arm. She was 19 years old, with a rather beautiful body covered in blue and yellow fur, her blade-like tail elegantly shaped, and her hair in sort of dreadlocks. She appeared hurt, and the reason became apparent in the form of a wild Machamp, the 4 armed muscular fighting-type Pokemon flexing his muscles. She had tried taking some of his fruit when she was caught, and he was rather unforgiving. The two fully evolved Pokemon faced each other, the Machamp cracking his knuckles while Luca raised her paws/fists, the large spike on the back of each glinting in the light, Luca panting and clearly hurt while Machamp only had a bruise on his cheek.

As Troy finally got to the clearing he spotted a wild Machamp and Lucario battling. The Lucario was obviously hurt but would not back down, but the Machamp had the upper hand. Troy was tempted to leave them to it but seeing the female Lucario in such desperate need, his instincts took over.

"Quick use Swords dance, then Counter, Then power up with Metal claw and hit him with a close combat attack," he yelled out.

He could only hope that she heard him and took his advice. She was a wild Pokemon after all and they did not have to follow a trainers orders. However he was sure that if she used that combination it would damage the Machamp sufficiently that it would probably decide the battle was not worth it and retreat back into the woods.

He waited at the edge of the clearing. No matter what happened his healing skills were going to be needed at the end of this. He began to dig out his stuff as the battle continued.

Luca looked around for the source of the voice and the Machamp took advantage of her distraction and charged, powering up his own Close Combat, and she turned in time to find him on top of her, the hulking Pokemon right in front of her, and she crossed her arms as his four-armed flurry of blows rained down on her, literally pushing her backwards. Luca grit her teeth and in a pause in his attacks she hit him with a Force Palm to the chest, driving him back. Luca clearly could take a beating and keep fighting, her resolve was strong, and it seemed she knew different moves than Troy thought. She glared at the Machamp as he stod dazed and she used Double Team, illusion copies of herself springing forth, and she charged in, her paw-fists powering up with what appeared to be Close Combat combined with Force Palm, a dangerous combination for the user and the target, her red eyes focused on the Machamp. Machamp glanced up to see her copies charging him, and he just laughed and used Hammer Arm, slamming into the ground and knocking them down, but the real Luca leaped up and discharged her Force Palm, which had ben a ruse, and wailed on him with Close Combat, bruising his body left and right. It was clear from her fighting style she was used to defending herself. Soon the Machamp was panting, on his knees, and Luca powered up an Aura Sphere, but he got up an ran. When her Aura Sphere burned out, the full impact of the damage hit her and she collapsed right there, barely conscious.

Troy was impressed. The Lucario had fought off the Machamp with style and heart but it looked like it had taken a pounding. He quickly rushed across the clearing and moved slowly to it's side. He saw that it was still conscious and he smiled at it.

"Hi, my name is Troy. You were wonderful back there the way you defeated that Machamp but you really need some help. I am a Pokemon trainer and can fix you up but you have to trust me okay. I am going to give you some medicine and it is going to make you drowsy, but when you wake up you are going to feel better. Still you are pretty badly hurt, so you won't be healed fully. I will stay here until you are so please don't try to move when you wake up."

Troy then placed the air hypodermic on her arm and hit the trigger. The medicine flowed into her and soon she nodded off. He then bandaged up her injuries up her injuries and once she was taken care of set up his tent and made a fire. He lifted her up and was surprised at how light she was, then placed her inside the tent covering her with a light blanket.

Finally he was able to make his tea and eat. Looking inside the tent he saw there wasn't much room left. It was only a one man tent, but in a pinch it could sleep two. Well he needed to get a good nights rest and it was only a Pokemon after all.

He banked the fire, then slipped in beside her and quickly fell asleep.

Luca slept for some time and when she woke up it was nearly midnight, and she realized several things at once: her injuries were healed or covered, she was warm, and she was lying next to someone. Her first thought was to get away, but then she thought that whoever this human was, they must've tended her wounds, and put her in their tent. So, Luca just laid there, looking at them as her ears flicked, curious as to who they were. She heard someo ne speak a name, 'Troy', and thought this must be them. So, she cuddled against him, blushing a bit, having always been the shy type, and she fell back asleep.

Troy woke up the next morning to find the Lucario cuddled up against him. He smiled down at her and patted her head comfortingly and gently got up so as not to disturb her. Well it looked like she was feeling a little better, but it would take at least a day for her wounds to heal enough for her to move around properly without any pain. He would have to stay and care for her for at least that long now or he couldn't forgive himself.

He made his way out of the tent and built up the fire again and put on the eggs and bacon he had brought from home for himself. He also dug out several types of Pokemon food pellets and made up a meal for the Lucario. She should like it if she had similar tastes to most Fighting and Steel Pokemon.

As he tucked into his breakfast and put on a pot of coffee for himself, he heard a faint rustling coming from his tent.
