Hey hey hey!!!!!!!!!

I very rarely check "My Ratings" on Chyoo, because for as long as I could remember, I only had one comment that read : "good". That's it. That's all.

Checked it again today, and I had a comment dating from December 20th, and IT WAS A WHOLE SENTENCE LONG!!!!!!!!!!!!   And guess what? December 20th is my birthday!!!!! Weeeeee!!!!! :D :nana: :D

Well, guess I'd also encourage you to actually add a comment to threads you rate. You know, the blank line under the "rating" line?

It's easy to say "it's good" or "it's bad", but that doesn' t help an author much.

WHAT do you like about the story? The situation? What a precise character is doing? The style?

WHAT could be improved in the story? The rythm? The word choice? The events themselves?

Thanks to whoever finally added a comment to their rating. :) Oh ya: comments, as well ratings, are anonymous. So don't be afraid to criticize, as long as you put in constructive comments. :p

But...

....sometimes it's hard to criticize someone. Cuz you can SEE how much effort they put into it, and you just sit there going "...is this person even fluent in english???"
Personally I often don't rate cuz I think I'm more critical than most people, and I don't want the author to get discouraged.
Altho, in one person's comments I actually told them where to get help. :)

Criticize away

As far as I am concerned I appreciate people's comments back to help me in refining what I write. I try to rate every story that I read at some point, because that is the only way the wriiting is going to improve over time.

There is nothing I hate more than to have a thread rejected, or for someone to rate one of my stories at a 1 or 2 without any explanation. Why they felt that way is the thing that I want to know. I f they just don't like it, fine, but if they saw a flaw I would like to know about it.

I think everyone would like to see the level of writing improve and there is only one way to try and do it at this point. Make comments and point out the good and bad in a story.

:D
