Obviously, I've no idea if this is just wishful thinking (and catering to) Mr. Trueman's organization there or if the GOP is serious about this, but here is is all the same. From here:
Despite their presumptive presidential candidate being endorsed by a porn star, a conservative media watchdog group says the Republican party platform will look to get tough on what it calls “the scourge of hardcore pornography.”

“A change in the Republican Party Platform to target illegal adult pornography is an exceedingly positive development that will protect children, as well as families from the scourge of hardcore pornography,” Morality In Media (MIM) president Patrick A. Trueman said in a statement Monday.

Trueman credited Family Research Council head Tony Perkins for introducing what it called tougher new language into the platform; whereas before only child pornography was considered illegal, he says, it will now read “Current laws on all forms of pornography and obscenity need to be vigorously enforced.” Trueman says, erroneously, that it is currently illegal to distribute “hardcore pornography” on the Internet, on hotel and motel televisions, on cable and satellite television and in retail shops.
Gosh. I've never been part of a scourge before. What does one wear when one is part of such a thing?

Ah yes, the Family Research Council. Considered a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center. I love knowing that half our country is being run especially for bigots and if they have their way it will be enshrined in law.

Proud to be a part of the scourge.

If this group stops porn, what's keeping them from trying to censor other forms of fiction with which they disagree? Dan Brown's a target for his The Da Vinci Code, and I know there has to be others!

It's porn, you wear your birthday suit, of course.

"It's the Viagra problem for guys in their 20s," Trueman said. Young males are now spending "10 to 12 years looking at porn on the Internet and masturbating to it, so when they are getting married, they are dysfunctional sexually because their brain maps are changed. They enjoy what they've been doing for 10 to 12 years. Normal sex is not something that gets them excited." [Patrick Trueman, Morality in Media]

I think Mr. Trueman just shared more about himself with the world than he intended.

Lol. I think you're right.
And wow if you are looking at enough freaky porn that it rewires your brain I think that is more on the individual than the porn at that point.

A change in the Republican Party Platform to target illegal adult pornography...

If it is already illegal, this is a non-news item.

As an alternative to TxRad, I like to some ability to unwrap special packages, so I am thinking YOU should wear scandalous eveningwear with stiletto heals.

They enjoy orgasms. Ohno!

However "normal sex" (does he mean married sex?) does not give people orgasms? Sounds like a marriage problem to me.

Besides, isn't the sort of sex that gives you orgasms "normal sex"?

The FRC's one of a long list of excessively moralistic organizations that see society through a glass darkly; ie: somewhere, somehow, someone's having a good time and that's just plain wrong. If they had their way, fun would consist of barn dances, hayrides, picnics, singing songs around the piano and band concerts in the park.

I don't like it when I'm told I shouldn't be doing something like writing porn, drinking Big Gulp's, eating fried or fatty foods, playing video games, listening to rock music, driving a gas slurping SUV or much of anything else that doesn't involve murder, rape, robbery, dope dealing or listening to Justin Bieber.

The last time a bunch of moralists totally got America by the shorties was the WCTU*in the '20's and that got us Prohibition and Organized crime.

Short version: Don't worry about it. The Repubs will let them say their piece since they're a voting bloc and then politely ignore them in favor of the rest of America that isn't so tight-assed. ;)

The GOP are an old party. And without sex they will be unable to reproduce and will form a smaller and smaller elective cohort at each subsequent election, thus becoming extinct.

After Ryan continued the Republicans trend of handing the female vote over to the dems by saying Rape babies should not be allowed to be aborted, this is a moot point.

Santorum, Limbaughs crack about sluts, Romney's stance against birth control being paid for and now Ryan's idiotic statement have made it very hard for women to vote republican

Now they are going to go after hardcore porn, so kiss the guys vote bye-bye as well.

Nice jobs Republicans. Worst President in history and you can't even mount a challenge.

Don't they study history ?
Pompeii, Rome, Athens, Egypt.
All had a remarkable collection of porn, which was regarded (as far as I know), as normal.

Some of our local villains are still embarrassed if someone mentions hardcore porn.

Many years ago a group of them linked up with some Dutch villains and hatched a plan in smuggle hardcore porn videos into England. They paid for the videos which were to be delivered over the side of a ship proceeding from the Netherlands up the Thames Estuary.

Our villains went out in a fishing boat, met the Dutch ship in the darkness, and the transfer took place. As they returned to shore, they were met by our local police and the Customs Service. They were arrested and taken to the Police station to be questioned.

While they were being processed, the Customs officers used a video player to check what had been smuggled.

Then they started laughing.

Our villains had bought a large pile of ex-rental Dutch children's videos suitable for 3-5 year olds.

As there is no duty payable on secondhand children's videos our villains were released without charge for importing by non-conventional means. The local newspapers were informed and printed an account of the 'smuggling' without naming names (even if everyone locally knew exactly who was involved!).

There are some local people who still swear everytime the words 'hardcore porn' are said...

As I recall, the moralists who preach abstinence and good old family values are usually the ones eventually discovered in the arms of a prostitute, or a mistress.

Four words: "Abstinence-only sex education."

And the parts of the country that "teach" that have a higher than usual unwedded teenage birth rate.

Well, if a guy were to post here complaining his relationship fails and we found out he’s been gawking at porn all day, most people would see a certain connection.

What kind of connection and whether it happens often could interest us from the point of view of informed consumer decision, if nothing else. People have never before had so much enticement to wank themselves into stupor, and the novel situation calls for some examination.

It’s only when one side insists people must be protected from themselves and the other side goes on the defensive that questioning becomes forbidden.

I’ve not had a problem with political threads, but that’s actually the only reason for avoiding them I can support. Once something is cast in terms of daily politics, the range of opinions disappears to be replaced by two sets of talking points.

To me it’s more interesting when we’re not so cornered into “porn: yes or no?” or a similar question. We’re not taking a vote here anyhow. “Porn is meh” or “porn is yuck” or “gawd, not porn again” and any number of other opinions are perfectly fine for people of any political persuasion.

There's not all that much wrong with writing porn, drinking Big Gulp's, eating fried or fatty foods, playing video games, listening to rock music, driving a gas slurping SUV or even murder, rape, robbery or dope dealing. I mean live and let live (or die, in the case of murder.) But, listening to Justin Bieber is WAY over the line. JMNTHO.

My view is that since you can't realistically ban porn, the next step is to educate people about how to relate to it.

In particular, you could teach teenagers that what you see on a porn video is not necessarily how to conduct a real-life relationship.

So, for example, you could teach both young men and women, that you don't necessarily commence a sex session by her sucking his cock, contrary to what a lot of porn might seem to indicate. And you don't necessarily have to do anal. Or indeed anything you aren't comfortable with. So this is pure education.

You might also point out that not every male is endowed like the porn stars, and that sessions that appear to indicate he comes 20 times in one session are probably filmed over a number of days, or creatively edited.

Sun you forgot one thing. These people are the ones who are spouting off that unmarried sex is bad so don't. They then don't teach their kids about sex until they are getting married. They simply forget the simple fact that most of them were pregnant when they got married.

Hell, if they are an older portion of the voting public it doesn't matter if they get laid, they already had kids who probably think their parents are fucking morons like the rest of us. :D

That’s my view too, really. And though there’re no teenagers here, it’s exactly why I start squirming every time people completely unify around the defense of porn. I imagine a guy reading who’s got himself cornered into porn loneliness or a woman reading who’s being treated like shit and not realizing she’s not supposed to be, and all they can see is everyone agreeing porn is the bestest thing in universe. It’s probably self-important to think it matters whether I say anything, and it’s got me mistaken for a religious rightie on occasion, but sometimes I get the urge to inject a bit of dissension.

Whenever I see this, I just keep coming back to one thought,

"Yeah, because of all the things wrong with this country, its porn to take a stance on. That's going to make a difference around these here parts."

Exactly. I mean, at school as well as dissecting Shakespeare, you could (well in some fantasy world anyway) play a porn film, and then point out that it isn't real, any more than (say) Star Wars is real.

I feel genuinely sorry for women that think they have to do whatever they (or their boyfriends) see in a porn movie. No, they don't. They have a right to be treated with respect, and also treat their partners with respect. Negotiate what feels good for both of them, and do that.

As for the men, they also need to be taught boundaries, respect, negotiation, all that stuff. Ultimately it will be for everyone's benefit.

However I can see that banning porn is going to be easier to sell, than showing porn and discussing its strengths and weaknesses.

Basically. No part of the Republican platform is for the violation of personal choice issues unless it's constitutional. This article, the site it's originally posted on, and all of the quotes below, are just rhetorical political bile with el zilcho facts:

The GOP are an old party. And without sex they will be unable to reproduce and will form a smaller and smaller elective cohort at each subsequent election, thus becoming extinct.

Seriously? *facepalm*

Any woman who would like to continue to have say over her body will take your face palm and smack you upside your head with it.

The Republicans try to act like they want to bring "morals" back to this country. Funny how its always about sex in one way shape or form.

They're the modern day Puritans.

The porn industry and all the offshoots of it contribute more to the economy of this country than anything Mitt and his boys ever will. And that's not "bile" that's fact.

Sex sells always has always will and many on this forum are proof of that. A lot of us are bringing in some extra money from erotica which if course is part of the porn industry.

So, yes, pardon me, if between making money off of porn and also having two daughters who I want to be able to have say in what happens to their body, I have had enough of these fucking morons.
