The UK retirement age has already been increased, and is likely to be the same for men and women within a decade, then increase further.

Increased life expectancy in the developed world is likely to lead to a general increase in normal retiring ages.

However, actual retirement ages and official retirement ages are different. Many people retire before the ages given.

Increasing lifespans don't mean that you're healthy or mentally sound. Lots of people now live into their 80s or 90s, but large numbers have dementia. Once people retire they won't have much time left until they are decrepit to enjoy their retirement. We have all this money to spend on defense and wars around the world, foreign aid, welfare giveaways for able bodied young people, but don't have money for seniors?

Rubio, Cruz, Paul Ryan, etc, say that our generation (gen X) needs to work longer so we're not a burden on millennials. That's bogus because there are about half as many of us as there are baby boomers or millennials. Once the boomers cycle through and die off, there are going to be lots of empty spaces in nursing homes and old people facilties. It was that way when we were kids too, they were closing schools that were built for boomers.

The social security "problem" will take care of itself in a few decades.

Generation X always loses out in terms of having as much impact on the culture and society due our lower numbers (we were originally called the "baby bust" generation since there were less children being born).

We should not be asked to suffer for the sake of the millennial trash. We already suffer from their lousy music and fucked up voting patterns. That's enough. No more.

The social security "problem" will solve itself on its own anyway once boomers die off.
