Ohio Rep Arrested for DUI With Young Woman Who's Not His Wife in Car
POSTED BY VINCE GRZEGOREK ON THU, JUN 30, 2011 AT 1:48 PM

So what is Ohio state Rep. Bob Mecklenborg (R-Green Township) up to when he’s not busy advocating government intrusion into the sex lives of Ohio’s women and suggesting that pro-choice advocates share ideals with Nazi Germany’s Third Reich? The Cincinnati-area attorney, husband and father of three is a staunch “family-values” conservative, so you probably know exactly where this is leading.

Mecklenborg wasn’t home holding hands with his wife while watching the History Channel in the wee hours of April 23. Rather, he was in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, a town of 5,000 about 15 minutes drive from Cincinnati, primarily notable as the home of the Hollywood Casino, and … well, let’s have Cincinnati’s WMWT describe the scene:

WLWT has learned that state Rep. Robert Mecklenborg, 59, was arrested on April 23 in Dearborn County, Ind. According to the police report, Mecklenborg was pulled over — in a car with Kentucky license plates — at 2:47 a.m. on U.S. 50 east of Lorey Lane. Mecklenborg was pulled over for a non-functioning headlight, but the arresting officer wrote in the report that he had reason to believe Mecklenborg was intoxicated. The officer described an odor of alcohol and wrote that Mecklenborg had glossy, bloodshot eyes.
Cincinnati.com adds, “The trooper asked him to take a breathalyzer test, but Mecklenborg allegedly refused. [Trooper] McCreary said he failed three field sobriety tests and had poor balance, so McCreary put Mecklenborg under arrest.”

Ohio political blog Plunderbund.com got a hold of Mecklenborg’s arrest record and added more details: a blood test showed Mecklenborg had Viagra in his system, and he was accompanied by 26-year-old Tiona Roberts, who is not his wife. The blog believes Ms. Roberts has connections with Concepts strip club, a few minutes’ drive from where Mecklenborg was stopped.

Plunderbund offers some excuses Mecklenborg could try out on his wife:

“It’s certainly possible that Mecklenborg, 59, and Roberts, 26, are just old friends. Or maybe they met at the local Burger King after bonding over the new Viagra shake. Or maybe he was just giving her a ride to work after her car broke down on Route 50.”

Unless Mrs. Mecklenborg is really gullible, we suspect she won’t fall for these.

Curiously, the incident happened over two months ago, these media reports — the first to come out — all appeared yesterday. — Anastasia Pantsios

I don't know if this is Weiner level or not, but Mecklenborg should resign.

I thought there was an unwritten code that says "what happens in Indiana, stays in Indiana."

If he could only have been a Democrat in the Peoples Republic of Massachusetts, if only he could have been driving an Oldsmobile and killed the girl, waiting some eight hours to tell the police...he might be redeemable.

State Rep <> National Rep

;) ;)

Nah. And niether should Weiner, Vitter, Sanford or Spitzer.

Ok maybe Sanford, for going AWOL. The rest is private matters or minor offenses. Not a single fuck is given from this direction.

was it a Kennedy? did a Kennedy kill another woman?

was obama being a dick?

Looks like the House (the US House) is extending its ethids investigation into Jean Schmidt's (R-Heavily gerrymandered southwest Ohio) dalliances.

Her district (drawn by Republicans) is a trip. A salamander-looking five counties of heavily republican rural and suburban voters with a tip that that slips into heavily black/urban downtown Cincinnati to make sure African-American votes don't matter.

I don't care with Weiner or this guy just don't lie when confronted with the truth. You lie, you should resign.

Isn't cheating lying?

No. Not in anyway that's important.

I agree! we must hold political leaders to a higher standard!

Fuck that. That's no small part of the reason we have the crappy politicians that we do have. Nobody who's lived life can run for office. You could be the best businessman in the world with the ability to single handedly fix the economy, bring peace the middle east and end poverty world round and it wouldn't matter if you'd had a raunchy bachelor party with a friend. I want credentials and talent, not people who spend all day focusing on not saying something stupid.

Dude, what happened to you? You're talking sane now.

Don't worry I'll say something supporting the making of money sooner or later. Then you can call me mean names again and we can step out of the twilight zone.

Maybe. Nowadays I cannot help but wonder if you were fucking with me when you said "can't afford to survive on your own? DIEEEEE!!!" Or did you come to realize that a society that operated like that would eventually die in a sea of blood, anarchy and chaos? Or did Renard Ruse and JenInFlorida take over that part of your market, forcing you to move up the intellectual value chain? :D

Combination of all three.

Driving drunk is a no-no. Resign or kicked out, I don't know.

It doesn't sound like he was living up to the "family values" platform.
So...

Screwing another woman, I don't really care
Being with a stripper or prostitute, I don't care.
If you're doing either of the above while preaching family values (which typically is contrary to the above two) then he should be kicked out.

I don't care about the actual acts, but hypocrites should be gone.

Why is this more important than both his job performance and the will of the voters who put him office. I'm not even sure I really think resigning (at least without some official nod from your constituency) should be possible. You wanted the job, you got the job and the job is for X amount of years. Tell me what other contract (and that's exactly what it is) do you get to simply say "no I don't feel like doing that any more" and get out of it and without any consequences.

I hate to pick on Palin but she's a good example. The state of Alaska voted her their governor, she last I heard had pretty good approval ratings at home. She saw there was more money out there and she simply told Alaska to fuck off and figure it out and that's legal? WHY?!

You know what, if you resign from an elected post you should be jailed for the remainder of your term. Nice white collar you play golf jail, not you get to meet Bubba jail but jail none-theless.

i'm sorry, but with spitzer he deserved the flak if only because his indiscretion revealed his own hypocrisy.
