He's a Holy Roller Faith Healer who's been around for decades. Oral Roberts University is a Southern Baptist Seminary he started 30 years ago.

Who was he? I know there's a college named after him.

To the best of my recollection:

Oral Roberts was a faith healer and , if I'm not mistaken, the first televangelist. He offered a double your money back guarantee. He promised that if you donated to his "ministry" and did not receive double the amount back in a windfall from God within a year, he would send you double your donation himself.

He claimed that God spoke to him.

He flaunted his wealth, saying that God didn't want people to be poor, and received a lot of notoriety because of it. There were magazine articles and, I believe, a TV expose.

He later started Oral Roberts University and lowered his profile, somewhat cleaning up his image.

Several years ago, he said that he needed to raise a certain amount of money by a certain date or God was going to strike him dead. Apparently he raised the money.
