With Halloween coming up I thought this would be a good time to open a thread to see if anyone here actually believes in ghosts or had something happen that they can't quite explain.

I am an amateur ghost hunter and been to a few places that have been supposedly haunted.

What about you?

I don't believe but I won't say they don't exist. Never truly knows what exist out there until you see it. I did have an experience I couldn't explain, happened when I was 16, I found a gold necklace, beautiful thing, out of nowhere in the middle of my bedroom floor. I asked my parents if they left it for me, they said they didn't and that they never saw it before...kind of creepy lol. (I wore the necklace for a year before it disappeared )

That is very creepy that it appeared for about a year and then disappeared as quickly and hasn't been seen since!

Yeah man! Lol, I'm like 60% sure that I lost it, I always lose stuff but still....creepy lol

Very creepy. It's a shame it's lost. If only you could do some research on it. Oh well. Still cool though!

Nice thread!

This I posted before, on BeachMomma's Ghoststories thread:

I was thirteen and coming home with my dad from doing some errands. The Beetle was loaded, because he wanted to build something, and I was holding some boards to prevent them disturbing his steering. They were much too long for the car, he had opened a rear window, shoved them trough and they tended to take a diagonal position; I had to hang on them with al my weight and keep pulling them to me.

Nearly home, we heard an ambulance. My dad looked towards the noise, took a deep breath and sighed.

"No need for that racket anymore. Bob died half an hour ago."

Shocked I nearly let go of the boards. How could he know that? We had been shopping for over an hour...
Hesitantly I asked him if he was sure, Bob was his best friend and my dad not someone who joked about death.

"Yes. He was dead when Anna found him in the kitchen, that was nearly twenty minutes ago. They came quick though. The new guys are better in responding to calls than the old crew."

We arrived home, unpacked the car and he started sawing after he had drunk a coffee.

In the evening, Mark, an other friend, visited us.

"You better sit down, Martin, I've got to tell you something you won't like," he said after greetings. "Bob has died this afternoon. Doctor said he must have been dead when Anna found him. Heart attack, he said."

Dad was devastated.

"But you knew it already!" I said. "You told me. In the car when we heard the ambulance."

I got scolded, for making fun of him, of Bob, of death.
Mark interrupted him, telling him I was just a little girl and probably shocked. My mom said the same...

Years later I sat with Mark and somehow that experience became the topic.

"You know, I didn't say it then, but I believed you. It has happened before. One day your dad collected his things, said goodbye, told us he would come back as soon as the funeral of his dad was organized. He left the office, we just looked at each other... Five minutes later his phone rang, I went over to his desk picked it up and it was an uncle of yours, asking for your dad because your granddad had just died."

I definitely believe in ghosts. My house was once a funeral home, which was converted to a home by the people who lived here before us. I've had quite a few unexplained occurrences, but some are creepier than others.

When my daughter was a baby, I was up in the middle of the night feeding her. My fiance was asleep in bed. I was half asleep in the chair in the living room, which is right next to the steps upstairs. The upstairs is a converted attic room with slanted ceilings. It's used mostly for storage, but there's a radio up there, too. Out of nowhere the radio turned on full blast and was playing country music (neither of us listen to country stations). It even woke my fiance, and he came to see what was going on. He took a few steps upstairs, and the radio turned off. He came right back down, but I wanted him to go look. When he went up he didn't see anything strange. Then he turned on the radio and it was normal volume, but still the country station. He decided to unplug it just in case. We've never figured out a reasonable explanation for what happened, so it has become one of our ghost stories.

If I get a chance, I'll share more later. The shower story is by far the creepiest.

I have heard of stories very similar to that. Thanks for sharing! The world has so many posssibilities. Your father seems to be a sensitive when it comes to things like that. He knew things he couldn't possibly know otherwise.

Funny thing is, he didn't/doesn't 'know' them. He stills says I made that up.

Maybe it freaks him out that he had it happened to him not once but twice so he is in denial? You should ask Mark if he denies knowing about his father before the phone call as well

I think my interest in the paranormal began at early age. I used to watch shows like Sightings on Fox with my best friend. My uncle used to tell me stories of Loch Ness Monster or Bigfoot. I remember we had just moved into our new house when I was about eight years old. I was in my room when something fell off my bureau and it spooked me. I ran down stairs to find my parents. In the living room was our couch in the middle of the room. As I hit the bottom of the steps, I swear that I saw a transparent hand from behind the couch gesturing for me to come. Considering I was all ready scared I didn't go near it! I just continuing running through the house until I found my parents.

Nothing like that ever happened again. It is very possible it was just my over imagination.

A few years ago a friend of mine from high school got an apartment together. We went out to a club and met a mutual friend of ours. My friend and her had hooked up a few weeks prior but that didn't last and we were both interested in each other. She had a friend with her as well so the four of us went back to our apartment to watch a scary movie.

The girls had never seen it before but we had. I was on the couch with Kate (mutual friend) and my roommate was sitting on the floor with her friend. It was about three in the morning when we were watching the movie. My roommate wanted to play a prank on the girl so in the middle of an intense scene he surprised her. She screamed loudly!

About a second later, there was five loud taps on the outside of the window as if someone had thrown stones at our apartment. We were on the second floor so no one could have just knocked on the wall. From my roommate's perspective he could see under the door to the hall way and no one was out there.

I sprung to my feet and ran to the window. No lights were on in any other apartment and no one was outside. The four of us looked at each other and asked if that just happened.

Eventually we all fell asleep after the movie and I went to walk the girls out to their car the next morning. I touched the door knob to open it and it fell off the hinges. The screws for the doorknob were on the inside of the apartment!

The girls never came back...

My ex and I went on a ghost hunt in St. Augustine, Florida a few years ago. We were in a room looking at a slideshow pictures of orbs that were taken on this tour. I saw her flinch in her chair, but didn't really say anything. A few minutes later the tourguide said there are two spirits that are usually in this room. One is a mean ghost. The other is a bit of a flirt. He likes to flirt with women. He has been known to rub his hand on their leg.

Throughout the rest of the tour, my ex was silent. Me? I was a kid in a candy store! At the end of the tour, she pulled me aside and said "I don't want you to think I am crazy, but something happened on the tour." I said "What happened?" She asked if I saw her flinch, I said yes.

"Do you remember the guide saying there was two ghosts in the room usually. Was that before or after I flinched?", she asked me.

"It was before. Why?"

"I felt a hand move along my thigh", she pulled up her jeans above her knee and there was a distinct finger print on it! That wasn't mine!

More to come if people are interested...
