Good news, for once

Sadly, the issue is still in douby her in Massachusetts. (The only state to legalize it so far.) The 'Family' crowd is trying to push an amendment to the state constitution again. Hopefully it will die again like it did last time.

Good for you Canuks.

Thank God! Now, could we just get that to migrate south? Probably not. I don't understand people sometimes. Everybody should have the same rights.

Same sex marriage is here to stay in Canada.

Good.

Kudos to you guys in the Great White North.

As for the lower forty-eight, it's gonna take another generation at least before there is widespread acceptance.

Most persons under the age of 30 are much more accepting of same-sex marriage than those 50 and over.

It's gonna take time. After all we're still dealing with racisim and sexisim.

Such is the frailty of the human condition.

Peace.

Definitely a good thing. :D

I really didn't understand how they thought that they could "grandfather" the right to marry for lesbians and gays - those who got married in the last few years get to stay married, but those who want to marry in the future, can't. That is a dangerous precedent to set.

As happy as I am with this, I can't help but feel it was all a bit of smoke and mirrors so that Harper could say he kept his promise but still manage not to alienate the more liberal (small l) minded people in the nation. Harper is playing to the middle ... in the hopes of getting a majority in the next election.

Yep.

Anyway Harper isn't Canada's Prime Minister. He's Alberta's, that's the centre of his universe and his first priority.
