Good Morning America: Chris Brown v Adam Lambert

Chris is "apologizing" in the usual obsequious celebrity manner. That makes him a good guy. Lambert has nothing to apologize for so there is no story. Easy, from a network POV.

VP, thanks for saying that. I was beginning to despair. What a lot of fuss about nothing. So two guys kissed for around 3 seconds.......ye gods, what's the problem? And they say we Brits are prudes!

New York Times

And the question in this article is a valid one, and we all know the answer. People (mostly men, sorry guys) for some reason, find the thought and sight of lesbians titillating, but the sight and thought of gay men they find threatening.

Sad, sad, sad, insecure people.

This never really occurred to me until the last year or so, but I think a big reason why some men have such a strong reaction to male-male displays of sexuality is exactly because they find it sexually arousing. There are bisexual men who simply have not owned up to and processed their own bisexuality, and being confronted with those thoughts, they lash out and project their own self-loathing onto others.

Another reason is that most straight men (I'm sure we have some exceptions here) seem to think that if a man is gay, he's automatically gonna hit on every single guy around, gay or straight, including them.

You have no idea how many straight men I've told, "Relax. He doesn't want you."

It was wonderful fun to sit at the Thanksgiving table and hear my nephew say, "I am SO glad we didn't go to have dinner at my gay cousin's. He is such a total faggot." And, I am sitting there politely eating my breast of turkey thinking, "Either he has no idea I'm a lesbian (which is probable) or he is just so unbelievably rude." Whatever the case, the kind of anger and open hostility displayed by my nephew is so sadly typical. And, just because I am not a "faggot" or his "gay cousin" doesn't mean that kind of language doesn't cut me to the core.

So, no, I really don't understand why people have such an issue with men loving other men.

I got hit on exactly once in my life by another guy. He happened to be bi, not that it makes any difference. He didn't appeal to me and I politely stated I wasn't interested and he wasn't hurt so we parted amicably. Considering how few times I've been approached by women, I took it as a compliment. Hasn't happened in decades, though.

But- Lambert was scheduled to perform and was cancelled because they said he was "too unpredictable." Chris is scheduled to be interviewed AND perform. I get the whole apology angle as a story, but it seems like they're allowing him to promote his music on their show. Why? Because now he's sorry for being an abusive jerk? And Lambert is unpredictable?!?!

Hollywood is always appealing to a demographic. Most of the time it's 14-30 year old guys. You want "insecure in their masculinity"? That's the crowd! I betcha Lambert gets invited to Oprah. ;)

Men have a problem with gay sex, because they can't help imagining that being done to them, and THAT'S what scares them. But, give them the choice, and they love doing it to women!! Double standards, double standards, double standards.

As for your nephew, he needs educating. Seriously.

I'm relieved to say, the wife and I have never, never had to face any kind of homophobia at all. So far. Just from the American Federal, and Az state governments, who won't let us live together in the States as a legal couple......unlike the good old fashioned UK.
