I never understood why this day was called such.

Was it Joos who named it Good Friday as a celebration for killing Jesus?
 
I am taking a huge risk here by making the assumption that you are asking a legitimate question, here, and not just being a "FlatulatingArse."

So, here is the answer. "Good" is taken from the senses pious, holy of the word "good." It is also referred to as Holy Friday.
