About 20 minutes ago there was an enormous BOOM! BOOM! heard here in Hollywood, and everyone stuck their heads out the window to see if Grauman's Chinese Theatre blew up or something. You expect the worst these days (especially with assholes like Craig Kilborn telling everyone that the FBI is "reporting" that 40 Al Queda terrorists are living in LA).

I just realized that the Shuttle was landing today at Edward's Airforce Base.

Goddamn Sonic Booms.

I live sort of close to O'Hare International Airport, and for a few months after 9/11, we'd get the occasional sonic boom of military escorts for planes that were having "trouble."

One involved an autistic child who became "tempermental" and the parents and the flight attendants couldn't calm the child down.

Sigh...
