OK, so I came on here asking for help a little while back and got some great responses as to why my stories were so confusing. I took out all the things that were overly confusing and unnecessary, and Nina21 even re-wrote my first chapter for me (thanks, hon!) that gave me some really good ideas on how to write. So I uploaded my last few chapters and got pretty good reviews- hell, one stayed at 5 for like a day and half! I was all happy.

Then today my latest chapter goes up- I look at the rating and it's a 1! Even lower then my original, super confusing chapter!! WTF? If anyone could help me I'd really appreciate it!

http://www.literotica.com/s/xaxac-brigadon-and-knights-of-order-ch-05- 4.5, my highest rated yet! What's the difference?

Just noticed that my highest rated is the only one I have in non-erotic... weird...

Best advice on voting/rating/etc -- ignore it.

Okay, well, don't ignore it. We all like our Hs and things like that.

But you have to remember that this is not peer review. This is a place where a random sampling of people come through to read stories, a tiny percentage of whom vote and even tinier percentage of whom comment. Then there are the trolls who vote low on purpose.

Best thing is to take it all with a grain of salt, and as you get to know readers and authors you'll find out whose judgment means something to you and things like that. But do not try to figure all the "Whys" out -- you'll only end up with a headache.

Some people see something they don't like in a story, stop reading and vote a 1. Some people vote everything a 5 that mentions the word "cock". And some people go ahead and read stories in categories like "non-consent" to tell people their fantasies are sick, or "gay" to be homophobic.

Honestly, the writing has improved. :) The less you confuse the reader, the better and I wouldn't worry about ratings so much (though this is the pot calling the kettle black because I watch mine like a freaking hawk!)

Just focus on improving your writing, and enjoying telling the story.

How many votes do you have? the link is not updated and says only 40 views, if that is accurate then it is only a couple of votes it will pick up.

Now a word of advice: Nothing wrong with asking for feedback on your home page or even saying in an authors note "votes and feedback are appreciated" which is what i do, but asking for it in a public comment IMO is just that, asking for it. This may get you more votes from nasty trolls then fans.

It is that juvenile oh yeah? Well hows this for a vote! Just my opinion, and don;t get obsessed with the red H's They are nice to have, but in a category that does not get a ton of votes it doesn't mean that much as it only takes a few 1's to knock it off. If you are happy with it and you get a few nice remarks that's all that counts.

Although admittedly it annoys me that the first chapter of my series is not even a 4.4 as it is one of my personal favorites.

I had a thought - have you tried writing about straight sex at all?

It's coming up. ;)

Lol. Looking forward to reading that. Was just thinking, because I seemed to get a better response from the Group Sex category, but now it looks like actually the one I have under "Lesbian" is the better one.... haha.
