So after a full year of granting all my attention to one story at a time I’m now in the terrible position of writing THE PROCESS and THERE’S A LOT OF ME ABOUT at the same time.

I promised myself I would not fall into this trap the same as the rest of you, but here I am.

DAMN YOU! DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL!

But of course…no offence.

Two. My goodness. Bush league. Try 40.
English and 40 pair better together.

I understand your angst.
As I look through my files, I counted 23 stories in my (in progress folder.)
Usually that's not a problem. I work on one when I get the urge.
Where it gets difficult is... When 2 of then are in my head and I'm working on them simultaneously... Get a good idea write in one, then swap to the second...
The problem is making sure they don't become the same story. Sometimes they morph and they lose there uniqueness.
I think it happens subconsciously. (For me anyway)
Swapping from story to story, the characters start to sound similar, speak with the same mannerisms...
Conversations repeated...

This problem might be unique to me... I'm only new to the writing thing... It is of course, only my opinion.

I tried to cut back to 2 because I wanted to dedicate a lot of time to these two stories. RL has a way if filling unused braincells and I ran out of excuses to stay at the keyboard. Lesson learned, work on what feels right

Story similarity has happened to me also. I usually write out the trash in my mind, then go back and edit out what doesn’t fit.

I'm just doing three. Sometimes an empty head is a blessing as you wittle them down to complete and can't think of anything else to write. Or, like what I did two nights ago when I had a new idea; I just wrote a layout so I don't hafta think about it, or do anything with it in the near future.

I'm just getting back into writing fiction after a long time away. It's been a slow process. I've been working on one story for a while, and I used to worry it would be the only story idea I'd ever have. I would envy writers who talked about the many new story ideas that tempt them away from their WIP. Then, recently, I had an idea for a SECOND story! And let me tell you, I feel like some kind of creative goddess now. If I weren't so out of practice, I'd be trying to work on them both at the same time. As it is, I think I'll end up starting the brainstorming process of the second one when my current WIP is closer to being finished.

My hearty congratulations on your abundance, and very good luck with the juggling act!

TWO? LOL.
Ive got two large series partly started that have none published.
4 or so short series close (3 or less chapters) not published
12ish stories and ideas from a few sentences to about 70% done. I have a good number at the 70% mark. I run with an idea and can't stop typing... until I do at some point and think... uuh... now what?

I think we're sitting in the same boat. I've got so many unfinished stories, I don't which one to look at first. Right now, I'm at the 'what now?' point in my latest story, though I know I've got to push on since it's for a contest. Otherwise, I'll leave sit for another year.

I'm finishing up a story then I realize, I really like one of the minor female characters and I am doing a sequel with her in it. Funny how a very minor character grew on me and became this person for lack of a better word and I began to flesh her out from a fairly bad person to a person who was in a very bad situation trying to help her daughter. Anyway, I am backwriting the first story to flesh her out more to reintroduce her in a stand-alone sequel (As opposed to an additional chapter.)
