I can honestly say that I haven't read the bible cover to cover, but I didn't know that football was around when it was written. I guess you learn something everyday.

Controversy follows girl football kicker

A female football kicker was let back on the field last weekend. But controversy keeps swirling around the decision to let her play football with home-schooled and private school boys.

The Georgia Football League official who sidelined Spalding County kicker Kacy Stuart for most of the season based on her gender gave in and allowed her to play. But he doesn’t want to discuss it.

“There’s no story,” said Hank St. Denis, the league’s executive board chairman. “She’s playing, isn’t she? End of story.”

In August, St. Denis told Kacy, 14, she could not play after she was accepted by and practiced with the New Creation Center Crusaders.

The first team Kacy faced relied on the Bible to express its beliefs about female football players in a pre-game statement, said New Creation athletic director Coach Ken Townley.

“The East Atlanta Mustangs didn’t play us under protest but they were allowed to read a statement on their beliefs about female football players,” Townley said. “They used biblical verses from the book of Romans. I was very stunned by that.”

Mustangs Coach Alan Hawkins did not immediately return phone calls or e-mails Monday asking for comment. St. Denis didn’t want to discuss why he changed his mind after being sent a letter from an attorney representing the Stuarts.

The Crusaders beat the Mustangs 39-8, with Kacy doing all the kicking and completing three extra-point attempts, Townley said.

“She’s an amazing kicker and I’m glad she got to play,” he said. “She’s a natural, she’s really good and only 14.”

The Crusaders were slated to face the Bartow Generals Saturday for the last game of the regular season but that has been scrapped. Kacy’s mother, Angie, thinks the team doesn’t want to face a girl.

But Generals coach Mike Gifford disputed that. “We’re not playing them but for reasons not related to that,” he said, without elaborating.

The Crusaders, who won the league championship last year, have a 4-3 record, Townley said, and are expected in the playoffs.

Instead, Townley said the Crusaders will play LaGrange’s Dawson Street Christian School Wildcats Oct. 30 at 7 p.m.

Don't you know that New Creation Center is a really fun place to spend your teenage years. Some kick-ass good times there.

I'm curious as to what quote they used. So far I can't find any news story that was able to state exactly what was said.

Don't want to play with a girl? Cry me a fucking river and come up with better excuses as to why you can't win.

I found the article out of the atlanta journal constitution. www.ajc.com. It was listed under popular stories. I would have linked it, but alas, I'm still a noob with such things.

No real boy wants to do what girls do. I mean, the camp following starts in childhood it seems.

Who can blame New Creation? It's really fucking embarrassing when you're misogynist assholes and a girl kicks your ass. ;)

QBs get sacked, kickers sometimes get roughed, even if there is a penalty for it. I expect no guy wants to be the one to have done that.

My school had a girl on its football team in the early 80s and no one thought a thing about it. She played quarterback and kicker both, in separate seasons. She had to try out just like anyone else, and was chosen because she was good. She went on to set state records in shotput, discus, and javelin. She was also the star player in girls volleyball and basketball, and gathered enough players to start a girls soccer team. Go Jen! :)

There is a prohibition in Leviticus (I think it's Leviticus. Might be Deuteronomy). Against the sexes wearing each other's clothes. They might have used that.

I kind of feel for these guys. How hard are they going to go after a female kicker?

I was watching my son's wrestling team wrestle a team that had a girl on it. It's a no-win situation. If you lose, you're beaten by a girl. If you win, you've beaten up on a girl.

They also had a girl on their football team, a wide receiver. She wasn't very good so they'd only put her in for a few plays at the end of the game, but one time she took a brutal hit, and it was ugly to see. The guy who hit her was booed off the field. He didn't know she was a girl.

Girls should be allowed to play. The rules need changing so girls can hit between the legs, just to even things up. You might add 'face sitting' for the wrestlers.

Can they dance at that school?

I was wondering about the Bible quotes myself.

Fucking pinheads. And people actually need to ask why I hate fundies!

For Christ sake, her gender doesn't make ANY difference! There are kickers all over the place that are smaller that many chicks. If she gets smacked, she will freakin live with it cuz she knew that it was a possibility when she signed on. Just because she has a womb doesn't mean she can't take a hit.

SAFE BET

Girls on boys teams are little camp followers. It starts early.

 So the Bible was written by Americans?
You didn't know that? Yes, indeed. But I'm not surprised that you Canadians didn't get the memo as, once again, you folks were not considered to be Americans by God, Almighty, and so not asked to contribute.

Maybe it's just because I grew up being rough and tumble with girls in my neighborhood. We grew up in a small neighborhood in the country and so we didn't have a ton of friends to play with. We played football and baseball together and we all got bruised and banged up. And believe me, there's more than one time that I've gotten into it with a girl, gotten my head knocked in, then turned around and given it right back to them.

Must be a Texas thing. :D

LEE

In my neighborhood we didnt play with the girls until we were old enough to know why God made them. And we didnt sissy helmets.

Yet another reason for me to ignore football. Or a great deal of professional sports altogether.

When has anyone seen an all female professional baseball team on prime time TV?

Pro sports are generally quite sexist and while it's only 50% of why I hate most pro sports, it's still a solid 50%.

Funny... the first time I ever went to - and paid to see - a pro sports game, it was the WNBA, the Sacramento Monarchs...

Isn't it amazing what one can find in the Bible if one looks hard enough?

If you look and/or listen long enough you can find someone who haas found an argument against anything in the bible.

One of the reasons I distrust all organized religion.

I remember my area had a semi-pro all-women football team. It was short-lived because they didn't get any support. I went to one game and they hit like pissed off mules. One of the players use to be on the original American Gladiators. As long as the rules stay the same, i say let them play.

Where do I sign up?

Does this mean that guys get to play on girls' softball and field hockey teams?
