I may have a new military idol...... and hes fucking air farce. I keep waiting to get struck by lightening.

Has anyone else read Clancy's new(ish) book "Every Man a Tiger" with Chuck Horner. I am totaly in awe of this man. Far better than his similar work with Fred Franks who lkes to talk tough but was probably the least effective commander in the Gulf War.

Please oh great and mighty gods of infantry do not strike down your humble servant for this blasphemy.

Take solace in the knowledge that while you may not like the field that occasionally someone worthy of respect rises to the top to be noticed. It is OK to acknowledge them and still hold true to your feelings about the field they have risen in, in this case the "air farce"

And I think the great and mighty gods of infantry will respect your ability to do that.

I dunno Julia, I would be stoned to death by some of my former associates for more minor sacriledge.

Up until now the only air farce puke I ever liked was my uncle by marriage. Rides in CF-18's and T-33's tend to endear people to me. He's falling though, I can hardly get an Air Canada discount out of him now.;)

Well we will have to keep it our secret them.

I don't know everyone in my family is either Army or Navy and they give discounts readily. No pilots in my family but we have a Navy Seal.

No not a military discount. Hes a pilot for Air Canada now. Finished up his squadron commmand ad decided he would rather fly airplanes instead of a desk. I was just kidding too he usualy treats me pretty well.

So a SEAL hunh.... mixed marriages can be tough;)

No they are great together, he is married to my sister she is navy too. Now put them in the room with my brother and his wife, both army and the ribbing starts.

Yep, I know, but.....

Even though they don't, for the most part, get their finger nails dirty - they are pretty good to have around for support when you need'em. I would never bad mouth one to his face (unless he really diserved it) just in case, ya know.

My friend Adm. George Geddney (Navy Cross, shot down over Laos, a fliers flyer) was a true maniac in his earlier years. A good type of guy to have up there.

But generally - Zoomies are pussies when it comes to the trenches.

And spoiled rotten too!

It's okay Expertise, you are forgiven. There are actually redeemable wingnuts. There are actually wingnuts who have military bearing, know the difference between an officer and an enlisted person, know how to come to attention and salute, and understand that the first name is rank and last name is how you differentiate between soldiers/sailors/marines/wingnuts.

You can be forgiven for admiring a zoomie, it is blasphemy, but once in a while one comes along that is worth admiration. Just don't admit it to your buddies, unless you want your, ahem, sojerboyhood called into question.

*whispers to Sparky* Wingnuts, college boy corporate pukes. Huhmph. I can't believe Exp likes a wingnut. Wonder if he's... (I'm joking okay!!! yeesh.)

I'm just not comfortable with it yet KM. A disdain for anyone in a "blue" (Air Force or Navy)uniform was ingrained in me at a relatively early age.

Sure, I always knew they had some good people but I am still not willing to gush or spout off about it during mmy next visit to the mess. They'd speak poorly of me when I left;)

I was about to make a smartass remark in regards to your "blow him off" comment when I realized I had put my foot in my mouth only moments before on an other thread.

Sorry big kitty, congrats on being gainfully employed again. Hows you're riggin?;)
