The new live action series on Netflix really captures the joyful goofiness of the source material. The first episode shows Monkey D. Luffy starting to assemble the core of the Straw Hat Pirates. It also explains how he got his Gum Gum powers.

I’ll shut up now. I’m just so jazzed from watching it I had to gush.

I just watched episode 2.

I’ve always thought the Joker was the worst Batman villain—boring and pathetic instead of being charismatic and menacing.

But Buggy the Clown in One Piece shows how to do a character like the Joker right.

One Piece has always been good with delivering charismatic villains you love to hate.

I can’t wait to see what they do with Arlong!

I’m reviving this thread because the second season just premiered this week. I’ve only watched the first two episodes, but from what I’ve seen so far, the second season is just as amazing as the first.

Since they have 26 years of manga to draw on, they can have cameos of favorite characters way before the appear in the original story.

Like when they introduce Laboon in episode 2, they show Brook singing to him, even though readers of the manga wouldn’t learn about Brook’s history with Laboon for years.

Also Robin is amazing—spooky and scary and stylish.

If you didn’t catch the first season, binge it now so you can fully appreciate season 2. I want people to squee with!

Watched episode 3 last night with the fam. Lots of Baroque Works. They actually managed to make them menacing despite how silly their powers are. Zoro got to fight 100 villains single-handed. A lot of scenery was broken. The casting so far is amazing. Mr. 9 was an obnoxious little snot with a very punchable face, and Miss Valentine is stylishly vicious.

but i have watched the live action verison of one piece lol lol and it is actually really good

season 2 is way better than season 1

Season 3 is definitely the whole Alabasta arc.

Watched episode 5 tonight and OMG Tony Tony Chopper! They nailed him! He’s shy and cute and adorable! And Katie Sagal is perfect as Doctorine.
