GO Sergio!

Yeah, I like the 4 hole playoff better than sudden death or 18 tomorrow.

Damn good Open!
Great Open! Very fun to watch. Harrington was off the tee well to begin with and I think that set Sergio back (psychologically) right away.

Yes, it was a very good Open. It helps that the course was set up much more fairly than it was eight years ago. And then all the rain made the greens quite receptive to good shorts. Yikes, but I wouldn't want to ever have to play that 18th hole, even for a $1 Nassau.

That's funny.

Was on the phone with my girlfriend watching when Sergio had the bunker shot... she asked me, "isn't this where you pick up the ball and just toss it?" She's played golf with me one too many times. LOL

Oh well. He's still a young guy. I think he'll win his share.
He may have already won his share. Did you catch any of his post-round press conference? He has a very negative mindset.

What a heartbreaker for Sergio. :( I was able to watch all the way up through yesterday ... sorry I missed the playoff.

Esclava :rose:

He's 10 years younger than Phil. He'll tee it up 40 times in majors and still not be considered old. Sometimes losing is a process on the way to winning.

Who wouldn't have a negative mindset after yesterday? It will only make him better.

I hope you're right because he's certainly an exciting player to watch. Of course, anyone would be disappointed after such a loss but what I noticed was that he insisted on shifting the blame from his own play to factors outside of his control. A more mature or more positive player would have accepted that he missed some putts that he should have made and vowed to improve his consistency in the future. Instead, Sergio was whining that his ball caromed off the flagstick on the 16th hole during the playoff and that he never seemed to get a break.

At least he's not like Phil who seems just as happy when he loses as when he wins.

It was nice to see only the second guy from Ireland to win. The Ryder Cup is in Kentucky next year. I think it is one of the greatest events in all of sports.

I agree on both counts. The Sunday of the Ryder Cup, even when the matches are essentially moot as they were last year, is one of my favorite sporting days.
